Exactly. In FFR we even ask permission to use songs people upload on newgrounds! and those songs anyone can use.

People upload songs on Newgrounds which are free for anyone to use on their own Flash productions that will be uploaded to Newgrounds.

Last I checked FFR isn't uploaded on Newgrounds.

Meh, who cares. I download and listen to them, but I also play the simfile. The point of it is so you can play it on SM. Bemanistyle lets you download songs from big artists and only 1 or 2 artists ever complained. The majority don't care, though.

I knew about this a while ago. That's how I got BB Revenge on my iPod. =)

Yeah, I've thought about this. I guess it could be illegal if it was made by a big company, artist, stuff like that. But if your not sure, then you don't really have to worry unless the artist has a problem with it.

Ok. When you download a simfile you get the dwi file the sm file and all the other background files ect...but what else do you get along with it?

The song file.
There are many simfiles with songs from bigtime artists like Scooter and Eifel 49(or whatever number it is). So like I said before you also get the song track.

If you go into the songs folder you see the song track. Click it and start listening to it. There. You just downloaded a song from a major artist. You can delete all the other files and just have the song.

Any thoughts people?

Exactly. In FFR we even ask permission to use songs people upload on newgrounds! and those songs anyone can use. But then simfiles for stepmania are a completly different story. We find a song we like and just use it!

Actually you can't use NG songs without permission. If you don't get permission you're risking a ban. A long long ban.

Yeah, I've been questioning this for a while. Long long time ago on Bemanistyle, I made a thread complaining on how no one on the forums were allowed to ask or post mp3s, yet simfile downloading was permitted. I stated that another thread requesting for certain simfiles is basically an indirect way of saying, "I want this mp3." No one seem to understand; basically, I was chided to hell and people pretty much said gtfo if you don't want to follow the rules. That crippled me.
And I'm not surprised that people are shocked in revelation when they actually realize my point; most people don't think about downloading simfiles that way.
