It's been so long, I don't even really remember. I just decided to try it one day and it stuck with me, I just liked it. Seemed more natural I guess.

Looks like I'm just gonna have to start from scratch then :/ I thought reverse scrolling would be easy at first and I could maybe do like EHHS and stuff right away but guess not ... btw im AAA'ing stuff on reverse in Dance its really not that hard. WOw Baha beats my reverse CIA : )

I just started seriously practicing reverse today because I was sick of failing Extra Stages on DDR Machines. It felt really wierd at first ... almost like if I had forgotten everything and started from scratch. Another wierd thing, In SM, the freeze arrows show the end first and ... well anyone taht's a downscroller knows what I'm saying. I couldn't even do 16th streams forget jump streams. I could hardly AAA anything, and when I tried to focus on the targets instead of the arrows, I would fall behind the music and hit greats. I tried it on FFR and I noticed a few advantages over upscrolling with it like you can see your timing judged with less screen cut. CIA Rave is actually pretty easy on reverse to me but everything else seemed a little hard. Next, I kinda jumped ahead of myself and beat some people in MP with downscrolling. There's just one thing I was wondering, people like Bahamut, Flunk and Exagon seem like they've been downscrolling forever and I was just thinking like how long did they practice to adjust to downscrolling and why did they do it? All of this stuff, hopefully either Baha or Exagon will se this thread and help me out.

ive played reverse since i started ffr 1.6 years ago, those players u mentioned probably did the same thing...just practice

When downscroll was added to MP I screwed around with it to just see how good I could get. I'm decent now. I mainly wanted to learn for DDR like you. I can only do onsync songs, though.

BTW ITG noteskins have noteheads on the bottom of freeze arrows in SM. It helps a lot

Not that I'm any good or anything but, I started out playing reverse style from scratch. Like Baha said, it just felt more natural and easier.

Some people also start reverse because most other music games are downscroll only.

God. I started to do okay on CIA Rave but the combo/accuracy REALLY got in the way.

I spent that entire yesterday playing DDR/ITG on reverse and i have gotten ALOT better. Just played Fantran on reverse and got 1 miss but I havent gotten to alot of FFR on reverse yet today

Haha sup WillTalbot.

When I made my new account (my old one was Loltor) I had just switched over to Reverse, which was July 2006. I switched because I'd always find O2Jam's downscroll really hard to get used to, and once I discovered IIDX, I decided switching between the directions would be difficult for me. So, I created Exag0n, started whoring Reverse, and got my first AAA (Resurrection in Progress) in the first 5 days or so (I had never gotten an AAA on upscroll because I used to suck much more).

But yeah, before I get into tl;dr territory, Reverse is especially good on FFR if you screenshrink, mainly because you can see your judgments. Some players complain that the combo gets in the way, but I never really had that problem myself; I kind of "look past" it. Plus, not many people play Reverse, so it differentiates you somewhat.

My problem with reverse is U/D get completely switched up in my mind and I hit the wrong one WAY too much.

I get a TON of extra stages in DDR, though (about 9/10 sets I play), so it's not as much of a problem anymore...dunno how I'd do in FFR.
