I always feel discouraged posting on such a big forum because there are so many people. When you leave for a couple days, its hard to keep up on everything. Any thoughts?

IMO, most of the important things that happen around here are posted on the home page. As long as you read anything new that's put there, you shouldn't be missing too much.
Also, if you ignore places like the garbage bin and game threads, then this forum isn't that big, but it's not that small, either.

just keep up with the recent stuff
don't try to go look at everything. Pick a place you'd like to check out, whether it be chit-chat, or Brag Board, or Video Games forum. It keeps you entertained.Comment

Pretty much the forum areas that appeal to your interests are the places you'll probably enjoy the most. Also, the programming board isn't very active yet. Usually what I do is, check around for interesting threads through all the main forum areas.Comment
