    Simfiles or Normal FFR?

    Hey guys,
Recently to practice, I have been playing simfiles in Resonance for a few reasons. First of all, I feel like I hit the arrows much more precisely. For example, on many of the beginner songs, I get good scores, alot of the times in the top 10. But the second I try that song on Light even in Resonance, I don't do that well. Is it worth it to play the normal version of FFR if I want to gain skill, or to play simfiles? Also, should I use AutoHotKey to learn how to play with spread?

Anything that has speed mods, marvs, and accurate timing is good for practice, but playing other things like FFR will help to, I just don't think it helps as much.

Really though, I think you should just have fun, and not try to get better all the time.

Also, resonance is very off beat, so you really should download Stepmania.

However, in answer to you're question, FFR you can use to work on speed, for it is very button mash friendly, and you can use Simfiles for accuracy. So, just use a combination of both.

post-dumps abstractly represent the existential nihilism that the song invokes in the listener with negative space, evoking the ephemeral nature of the mind - the journey of stepmania begins in hope yet soon becomes corroded into a dialectic of futility, leaving only a sense of dread and the unlikelihood of a new synthesis

Also make sure you get in-sync and good quality simfiles or it'll mess up your timing.

I cant do simfiles because I cant tell where to screencut to with the different scroll rates.

Then play simfiles in StepMania where you can set it to any scroll rate you want.

Aye, Resonance is to preview the simfile whereas Stepmania is specifically play the file. SM has been around for much longer than Resonance as well; therefore less bugs.

Ahh, I see. So basically if I want to play the simfile the way it was meant to be played, I should use SM? I suck even more at SM, you have to be right on with the arrows. Oh well, I will just practice more.

I you think it's hard to play stepmania because you have to wait till the arrow is RIGHT over the "ghost arrow" then set the speed of the arrows faster. I suggest x2 or x3.

If you play too much Resonance then your timing will be off on DDR/ITG/SM becuz the timing window is way bigger then them. I have set my SM timing window to 7 in order to get better. At first it sucked cuz it said "good" or "great" but I was just as good as before, just the window was smaller. However when you play on a harder setting then you get better over time just by playing. Other then that, just have fun, take Doug's advice and enjoy the game.

MixMasterLar and Sneakyfeet, thank you for the great tips. Using them I find that I do much better, and I changed the timing window to 6. I have also started to use the spread technique.
