FFR Brain Farts??

Have you ever played a song, then at a certain point everytime, your brain and fingers just refuse to work? You know what's coming, you anticipate it, but when it comes your brain and fingers just take a dump.
For example, I've never had a problem FC'ing CIA Rave, but lately everytime I get to the 92 combo, the fingers on my right hand feel like they get paralyzed and I miss...but then they're okay for the rest of the song. It used to happen to my left hand on RATV2 on the trills, but not anymore. Then there's Uber Rave...I usually nail the first wave each and every time, but sometimes my brain and fingers just refuse to work in conjuction for that first set of notes. I end up booing out, restarting the song, then boom, brain fart for that first wave again. wtf!? Does anyone else suffer from these mental blocks? And if so, what song and where? Anyone have any tips on how to overcome them? I overcame the RATV2 one, but I have no idea how...

lol, I was just thinking about making a thread about this...happened while playing CIA Rave. Got the first 220ish for the first time and then on one pattern my right hand just stopped moving. I was going to boo out at first and see if I could do better, but decided to go on and got the next 200 or so. oi, needless to say I was frustrated lol. The only thing I could suggest is take a bit of a break from the keyboard for a bit.

This happens to me a lot.
I know the patterns of the songs, but my hands just won't move sometimes.

This happens on Synesthetic, Gradeus, Uber Rave v2, Rondo Alla Turca v2,
Silence, ASB. It's mostly masters only songs that I have this problem with.

it happens to me when i can't REALLY read the pattern, i just don't realize it

if you say it happens every time at 92 you probably can't read it.

Yes! this happens to me. The exact same places on Delirium everytime. Also on Cia. And yeah the first stream on Uber Rave V2 i just can't read.

Yeah, it's because you can't read it. It happens to the best of us. Get to that part, take a screenshot, and practice it over and over til you can do it with your eyes closed. It's what I did for one part (around 144) in nova pulser.

It's not always because you can't read it, though. Sometimes it just happens. It happens to me the most on slower songs, though. What I think it is is I'll be playing something like One Last Battle doing fine and what not and then I'll having a passing thought for a moment and my fingers will stop for a fraction of a second and I lose where I am.

it's happened to me before... almost always RIGHT at the start of a file. like uber2 and epic come to mind. clearly i can read the 1st 10-15 notes of both files, just sometimes my fingers decide they don't want to do that pattern. BUT if that same pattern was 100 notes into the file, it'd work just fine.

also sometimes happened to me on GGC, notes like 10-30. only ever happens at the start.

if I ever miss consistently at the same spot over and over again on other files, it is because i'm not reading it properly. like there is 1 spot on LW4.

A couple songs come to mind for me.

Frantransic, right when its about to go into the first eighth jumpstream, and again later on with the third speed up right before the break. I'm so happy I finally FC'ed this today.

Happens a lot when I'm doing lots of consecutive jumping too. (LLL)

Somewhere in the first 200 notes of Delirium I always get a miss, most likely the spots where the jump is in the 16th stream.

Splash beats too, near the beginning when you have to gallop into several jumps.

Oh yea, happens to me all the time on ffr and when playing the piano.

For example, fotbb is cake for me except for 1 part where I struggle and tend to lose combo every time. This isn't such a problem on stepmania, though.


Recently I had something strange happen to me while playing the piano. No matter how many times I played a section over, when I came to it, I could not play it, but if I took a very short pause before playing the part I could play it perfectly, or if I started the bar before, but playing from the start messed up every time.

I used to have this problem with so many songs.

-Quasar on stepmania, the beginning of the 2nd big stream sectionafter the slowdown. (fixed this)
-Couple parts in AIR, can't remember (fixed this)
- The beginning of 250bpm without mirror (still have this problem, fine with mirror though).
- The first big burst in one minute waltz (still have this problem).

Problably a couple others too.

-I can't do the first 16th run in FotS, I miss or get a great everytime rofl
-Can't do the mini-trills in Shind Bad, Doku, etc.
-Can't do...okay basically I can't do these patterns over 190ish bpm rofl

On Silence, I always mess up the first beat of the jumpstream. Always. I'm thinking for 8 beats here comes jumpstream here comes jumpstream...
