i know this is noob-ish but, is it just me or is CIA Rave really really hard to rank good on? im stuck at a ninethousandth-some rank and cant get any lower, im ranked 2000 something overall but stuck at nine thousand, its really frustrating because over and over i keep trying but no good does it do...
ya i know im gonna get major flamed but who cares just asking

no its not just you I think alot of people use glitch arrows or something because with 4 goods you can be ranked like 130

Yeah ive been trying forever and im stuck around 5000 when mostly all of my songs are lower than that.

I'm not sure if it's glitched arrows. I've never heard of that song having glitched arrows...
CIA Rave is one of the most often whored songs..actually, I find myself whoring it sometimes just because my rank on it is so low

I've FC'ed CIA Rave with ~40 goods and got ~650 rank.
I've FC'ed Ronda Alla Turca V2 with ~40 goods and got 71 rank.

How can ~649 people have done better than me on CIA Rave and why haven't those ~649 people beaten my RATV2 score? RATV2 is way easier IMO. Yeah, I've always wondered the same thing...

No it's not the whole fact that people cheat on the song. It's the most commonly whored song in ALL of FFR. People play it so much. I am rank..Uhhh...Lemme check I'll edit this post when I find out.

EDIT:3,445 CIA Rave 925,095 And I can almost under 20 goods. It's the most commonly played song. That's all. No cheating. =/

The reason cia rave is so hard to get a good rank on is mainly because it is all constant stream. Anyone with enough speed can fairly consistently get a FC on it with less than 40 goods. The first time I FC'ed it i had ~ 100 goods and barely ranked above 1000. currently im like 700 something with about 50 goods. You need a FC to get under 1000 rank, and some really sweet PA to get a low rank.

Yeah...it's super-whored. With 3 goods and a boo, I still have only rank 82. If you want a high rank, you're going to need an incredible PA.

It is the most commonly played song by good players, which is what really determines how hard it is go get a good rank. I have probably played it about 3500 times, and I still only have done this good: 359 CIA Rave 1,638,030, which is my worst rank out of all the songs that I have played, even though it looks like a really good score to me. I've gotten fewer goods on wish, delirium, uber rave v2, and rondo v2, most of which by far. According to jimerax, it's easier than a lot of other levels that I find easier than it, so I guess it's easier for most other people than it is for me. I think it's one of the best and hardest songs that all playing styles can still do well one, one handers, indexers, spreaders, 4-fingereders, etc. You do need perfect PA to get a really good rank, considering the game level stats show that at least 25 people have AAA'd it.

Yeah it is the most whored song. I almost fc'ed it with a 800-900 combo and I got a 2000 rank on it.

man im not even close to fc ing it, i just thought that since i usually get around 3000 rank if i get a 300 or so combo on other songs with similar difficulties but this one just didnt seem to give me a good rank, thanks tho that really clears things up for me

I don't think the overinflated ratings for CIA Rave are entirely due to it being whored more than any other song. In fact, if you look at the FFR Top 10 Songs (link is on the home page), songs like FotBB and Alpha Helix (and currently Captain Jack) get more play than CIA Rave.

Granted, the ludicrous rankings are slightly influenced by people playing it a lot, but the major factor is the fact that the steps are, for the most part, one continuous stream without complicated jump patterns, as DarkManticore said. This makes the song easier to read and more consistent to do well on by those who can read it. Notice that Breaking the Common, an easier stepfile that once again is a continuous stream of arrows, also has quite an inflated ranking.

Bottom line: once you are able to read streams at that speed, then you can repeatedly do well on it, just like everyone above you in rank.
