Just FC'd boss machine and im not sure what to do next. Should I go far a full perfect or go to another song, and if so, what song? Im just not realy sure whats the next step up.
As more of a middle level player, here are my thoughts. Personally, I don't worry that much about getting perfect combos. I typically work for full combos, then getting down to a small number of goods. I don't really feel like spending tons of time shooting for 100% accuracy when I can be working on harder/faster songs and improving (or at least trying to) there.
The actual difficulties thread Tasselfoot mentioned is a great place to find out where the harder songs really are. Boss Machine, Secret Zombie Room, and Breaking the Common are all at level 2.5; Secret Zombie Room is on the lower end, while Boss Machine and Breaking the Common are on the higher end. Breaking the Common used to be a kind of marker of ability at the lower levels, or at least that's what I heard around 1.5 years ago when I started, so that might be worth working on. I found that the pattern wasn't so difficult with that, but keeping it up long enough was -- I tended to get tired and slip up. I did recently FC it though. If you want to try harder level songs, just check out the thread, see what's where, and pick what sounds good to you. Good luck!
Essentially retired now, but still ranked on the list of FFR's Top One Handers. One-Hander Skill Tokens unlocked: The V2 Token, The Patience Token, X_X1MissX_X, AAA v5, T.H.E.G.A.M.E.T.O.K.E.N Pseudo Skill Tokens unlocked: Numbers 21, 44, 33, 57, 26, 24, 47, 95
What dronak said. Go for FC's and then move to harder songs. For FFR you'll want to focus more on getting combos over anything else. Perfects and such are just nice to have XD.
Remember you can pretty much mess up a song horribly PA wise, but if your combo is higher than normal, your score will be much much higher than if you got a lot of perfs and a lower combo.
Just full combo the songs on this list in order =P So, your next song is... One Last Battle and so on and so on. Once you feel that you're good enough, try going for some AAA's.
Although I'm stuck on "Funk In G." Giving up on that stupid ass song i hate it. I'm a few songs ahead of that. Kinda funny like I fc'd SZR and Alpha Helix. But still having trouble with:
That's similar to me, klagett. Funk In G is the only song at level 2 or lower that I haven't been able to FC. I've FC'ed about 2/3 of level 2.5. The ones giving me trouble there are Massive, She Bangs, 8-Bit Day Dreamer, Burnout, The Essential, and Slap Guitar 2. Oh, I haven't bought any songs yet, so I haven't tried Dr. Wily Theme V2 yet.
iggymatrix is right about the scoring. Combinations have the biggest effect on total score, so the higher you can get that, the better. So like Pichu_XP said, once you get the FCs, you can work on getting the PCs if you want, but you don't necessarily have to FC every single song. And I think that some songs do have off-sync arrows that can mess things up. I try to adjust, but it's hard, and easier in some songs than others.

Personally, I would go for the AAA. I always played the hardest song I possibly could whenever I was first learning, and I can get decent combo's now, but my PA is horrible. It'd probably take longer if you always AAA'd songs on a level before progressing to the next, but I think it would make you a better player in the end.
