I know, I pretty much said the same thing, that I'm probably not good enough to tell how well it matches. That's also why I said you can just ignore my comments. I basically knew they wouldn't match the majority of people who can pass the song and get good scores. I probably shouldn't even comment when I know that's going to be the case. Unless people care what the song seems like to people who are below it's level, and I don't think they do, my opinion is hardly worth anything. Frankly, I still think some arrows are coming out of the left hand bass/harmony/accompaniment part and not the right hand melody part, but given my lack of FFR skill, I could be wrong on this, too.

If playing FFR were like reading music notes, I wouldn't have a problem. Reading arrows here is different enough though that it's hard for me to tell exactly what's going on with faster/harder songs. I expect that I'll get better with practice, and I have made progress, but I don't play often or long enough to be as good as the experts here. I'm OK with it, but it does seem to make a kind of second-class citizen. *shrug*

P.S. -- I gave it another try and did pass it this time . . . miserably, but I did reach the end. As with about half of the songs on FFR, it's just too hard for me to do well at my current skill level. (If you've noticed, I readily admit that I'm not a very good player. I know it.) As a kind of random side note, doubles on 16th notes almost always screw me up.

Really awesome song and really awesome stepfile, only concern I have is I think the song should be a faster BPM. Just my own complaint about the song. I think it would sound better as a ragtime piece, and it would also add to the general humor I find in these kinds of songs.

Steps were good. The BPM should be doubled.

Re: SotW - Maple Leaf Rag

why double the BPM? Then everything would be 8th notes instead of 16ths. *shrugs* no other difference.

And as far as making it a faster BPM.... well, that really isn't in our control, now is it. You have Mr. Joplin to thank for the speed of the song. And in fact, most ragtime is slower.

            waaaaaaaaaaay easier to read

            when I see red-yellow-blue-yellow I think stream

            when I see red-blue I think 8ths

            8ths are WAY easier

Re: SotW - Maple Leaf Rag

um I could step it as 216 bpm 8ths with no problem, no need to edit the MIDI file itself.

But I thought 16ths are quite the same as doubled 8ths at the point of reading for me, at least.

Good to have more music that's not Dance. And the steps were really well done on this one. A+.

Good song, Tass, I love it. Finally a jumpstream that's not at a billion BPM.

All I can think of whilst playing this song is Willy "Black-Eye" Griffin, the greatest silent movie star of the twenties.

There needs to be a lot more simfiles like this. Good job finding this song. Good job jimerax for making a great simfile to go with it.
