yes, until you get to a certain point, a while down the road. then it takes a while to get better. don't worry about that now, though, just keep playing.

I hit that early around the level 5 songs. My initial rate was extremely quick, but now I can't seem to improve. You will always improve. Even if it doesn't seem like it, you get more familair with a song the more you play it.

yeah, right now i am working on Contradistinction FFR Edit, i ran through it a couple times and i think i am starting to get much more familiar with the level. It feels good to know what kind of arrows are going to come up

contradistinction is a song that gets A LOT easier after playing it a few times. The beat is kinda weird initially but when you get used to it it's actually a really easy song. But yeah like moogy said, you'll improve pretty rapidly for a while as your fingers get more used to the motions and you get better at recognizing patterns, but it's a lot of work to get past a certain point... (where I'm at right now.. =( )
Reach: there was this bee. i hate bee\'s...i tryed to kill it, but then it didn\'t die and it started making weird noises so i was like oh (#$% hes gonna sting me. i started running but i triped over some rock and rolled down a hill into the river.

You can only get past "that level" by getting to a point where your fingers react on their own to the arrows, and you no longer have to consciously see the arrows and tell your hands to move. Much like a major league baseball shortstop fielding a "routine" grounder, he doesnt have to think at all, the entire motion is just a now-instinctive reaction to what he is seeing coming his way.

There have been times where I completely lose track of the arrow patterns in a song, and my fingers will keep pounding a way and not miss a beat.

yeah, i've gotten in the SM trance before....where you just completely lose control of your hands and you stop focusing on the arrows, and to your astonishment you've kept your combo

I don't zone. That must be my problem. I'm the hyper-alert type of person. When I start playing, I start to listen to each beat of the song. I am a musician, so when I get into it, I start to hear every rhythm and know when they are going to come up. The problem is that when I start to sub-divide the rhythms, I seem to mess up. I try to follow the rhythms instead of the arrows.

Practice does make perfect. I went from not able to beat Mario on normal mode to where I can beat lv10 songs w/out keysmashing, and I can FC up to a lv7 song. (I refuse to consider Bubbleman a lv8 song)

You improve gradually w/out even noticing it, until one day you wake up and MegaMan seems like a lv4 song to you. Just don't keysmash and practice a lot. It took me a long time just to even FC a song like Soul Shift. Just keep at it.

Good luck and enjoy the game.
