    servers?

This is on th emain page of ffr and i was wondering wtf its all about.

P.S. If you want to know if you are on the old or new server, just drop into a dos prompt and type ping www.flashflashrevolution.com if it starts with a 209, you are on the old. If it starts with 67 you are on the new.

    explain plz thx.

    Re: servers?

Doing my best to get everyone up and running on the new server. It has been somewhat of a headache.

Hopefully everything will be cleared up in the next hour.

    Cheers,

    Synthlight

FFR has a bunch of servers located in Texas. I am in the process of purchasing server(s) and running them out of Chicago (where I am based). Today I migrated about 30gb of FFR files and kept the downtime to a minimum. Make sense? If not, ask more questions.

This is actually relatively simple. Click your start button, and choose run. Type in "cmd" and hit enter. You should now have a command prompt open. Simply type in "ping www.flashflashrevolution.com" and hit enter. It should display an IP for it. The old one is 209.85.32.27. If it's not that, then you're connecting to the new one.

I sadly am connecting to the old one

You can force yourself to connect to the new one if you want. But I don't suggest it.

edit your hosts file in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc (locations may vary) and make it look like this:

        # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
        #
        # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
        #
        # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
        # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
        # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
        # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
        # space.
        #
        # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
        # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
        #
        # For example:
        #
        # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
        # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

        127.0.0.1 localhost
        67.159.5.18 www.flashflashrevolution.com

            Re: servers?

            ...

            Are you serious?

Do it without quotation marks. Whenever anyone says things in quotation marks (like this: "ping 127.0.0.1") you only type the thing within the quotations, like this:

            ping 127.0.0.1
The function of the quotes is to set off what is to be used and to indicate that you are to key it exactly as it appears. The quotes are NEVER part of it.
