I've heard rumors that everything will be hardware encrypted in the next mix so people will have to buy all new machines for every mix. That means no more "switch this cd out and put a new one in" upgrades that plauge every arcade I go to. About 5% of the DDR machines in Ohio are legit. Namco claims the machines are legit, but I can see through their photoshopped marquees - don't give me that bullshit.

      2 things:

      1) If it has a mem card reader can you be pretty sure it's legit?
      2) I live in Ohio too. Do you know of any you are sure are illegitimate in SW ohio?

I live in NW Ohio so I haven't observed too many SW Ohio machines. I do know the Gameworks Columbus DDR USA is legit, though. Out of the six we have here, two are legit.
Most legit machines have the reflective Konami seal on them, which means they were originally legit if they were upgraded. If the machine was upgraded, it is not legit because Konami does not deal upgrades. That's why the encryption rumor came up because if that is implemented it is going to be harder to bootleg machines. I heard they were redoing the cabinet design as well.
If the machine has mem slots, there is a greater chance it is legit, but not always, such as the case of Major Magic's, Toledo, MAX2 machine - bootleg all the way.

How about two buttons near the head residing by either sides of your temples? I call it the self-pressure seizure buttons.

I know! The swirvel pad, where you get to spin around in DDR for certain steps!

There would be no gameplay changes I'm aware of. It's just piracy detourants.

I'm talking about the Konomi end of things. I dont think they could come up with a system that would successfully deter pirating without spending alot of money and pumping out a new version every 4 months.

                            rofl.

there are no legitimate versions of DDR EX anywhere in the USA.

they're all either bootleg or illegal.

Nah, there are legit EXs in the U.S. However, that number is in the single digits.
