Choppy Gameplay

I just built a new PC.... every FPS, MMO, RPG etc all run without a hitch.

Just like you guys I need my FFR fix, been playing this game for 15 years on and off.

I downloaded the files, extracted to desktop but when I try to play the game its an absolute chopfest. Ive always played at 60FPS before with no issue, but once the notes start flying, it acts as if Im set to 20 FPS.

Am I missing something?

OK this is a three-part solution to me.

Question 1: What's the refresh rate on your monitor?
Question 2: Which version of the game are you playing on?
Question 3: is VSync on?


Cuz with the more recent versions (1.3.0, 1.3.1, etc.), Solid 60 FPS kinda breaks things.
I've always used about 40-55 FPS, maybe even 59 sometimes, but solid 60 (in my experience) doesn't do very well.

I have a 60 hz monitor and I use 40 FPS atm, I'm on the hybrid version of 0.0.8+1.3.0 if you wanna try that, but play around with different FPS values (and maybe even versions of the game) as you go to see which one you like the most.

Certain framerates don't play well with certain versions, so that could be why. From what I've seen, the two that typically work best for people are 59 fps on the 1.3.1 hybrid & 250 fps on the 1.3.1 regular edition. I'd recommend trying those settings out if you haven't yet.

I've had the same issues before so here's some things you could do:

1. Check if you have any window's/mac updates or drivers that need to be updated
2. Try running something in the background, I used to have a discord vc where I'd just go to everytime I played because it made the gameplay 100% smoother. Opening game launchers could also work.
3. Like said above, try different framerates like 55, 59, 144, 150, 200, 250
4. Use an older FFR edition. I'm currently using 0.0.8 because others make my gameplay laggy, including the latest edition.
