    click input for notes?

Just wondering if there's any way I can turn on mouse clicking as a way of hitting notes. I ask because I'm on a Surface pro, and with the multitouch touchscreen, it'd be great for this game. But I can't seem to find any way to register a click as a note press. I haven't played in ages, so K thought maybe I just missed an obvious thing somewhere. I googled, and someone mentioned mouse input was a thing you could use to play, but didn't explain how.

I figure it wouldn't hurt to ask.

in the older engines, you could click on the arrows to activate them. Not sure which engine this actually works for

Legacy Engine allows the ability to click on the receptors to count as an input. Not sure if they had transferred the feature to the Velocity Engine, but this ability has been lost in the R^3 engine.

It does rather easily facilitate double setup, which is something we try to avoid.

Honestly this could be easily mitigated by having a "key value" in the newer engine that would be used to indicate to the engine that mouse presses should register, but as you have to set this "value" for the each arrow, you can no longer use a keyboard button for it as well. No more double setup, outside of touch screen + mouse clicks, which I don't see as feasible really in most situations anyway.

better explanation: You would map your keys to a value for "click" instead of a value for a keyboard key

I've had this image for a while of someone poking furiously at the bottom edge of a tablet instead of keysmashing, then raging about how they lost some score or other because it didn't pick up an input.

It *could* work, but Hi19 makes a great point about double setup.

But would my comment not be a possible solution for that???

If you have to "bind your keys to tap input", then other input no longer will work... Just like if you bind the keys to askl the up down left right arrows no longer work for input.

edit: and the reality in my opinion is that
              1) you could use a usb keyboard with a laptop keyboard for double setup super easily anyway and
              2) I don't really see the possibility of double setup as a complete block on something that could be quite fun or useful for bringing in new players to FFR
