The people who made bots for FFR to spam people's profiles & PM spam have been blocked quite well thanks to requiring game plays in order to post on the forums, as well as certain amounts of posts on forums for them to post links.

Bots got slammed so much so, that they decided fuck all with it and just create bots that scour the forums, make copies of the webpages, and then host the content somewhere else, and that's why you always see 5-8 guests in popular/controversial threads on the front page of FFR.

At least that's my best guess at interpreting what's going on.
