500 Internal Server Error

FFR went down for its 4th time last night and was more or less the main reason why I'm waking up at this time of the day in the EST timezone. The first time it happened (shortly after Christmas) I was assured by Velocity that it was just the server running out of memory but come on guys, I could have sworn that we made a thread about this awhile ago. We all expected the worst, a game plan was made within the circle of moderators & administrators here, and we got a hold of Synthlight and presumed all is well, considering it's quite a rarity to even see Synthlight post in a thread, and then all of a sudden seeing some activity from him.

Do we have to start scheduling our play times around this downtime during the night on the western hemisphere? Is FFR really dying? The most I've seen in response to this stuff is petty complaints because people have seen it happen so much that they kind of are expecting it to come back online, and not even some of the mods/developers know what's going on for this issue. It's happening so frequently, that I have to assume that it's going to happen tonight as well, considering it has happened the last 2 nights, and happened twice before since between New Year's, and the 26th of December.

This rarely ever happened back in 2007-2008, and now it's happening more than ever. One of these days, I'm expecting it to turn off, and someone will give up on the other end trying to maintain it. There hasn't even been a front page post about this.


I'm more or less surprised that when I woke up no one made a post about this before me, as if it's being covered up by some conspiracy or something.

I had literally wanted to play last night and I couldn't because of this. I was afraid too at first that FFR had died and I honestly was not expecting it to be up when I woke up this morning.

It's events like these that need to be addressed formally and immediately, or at least an answer of what exactly happened or what to expect in the back end. Like you said GS, someone could give up on the other end and just end FFR entirely since there has been a rapid succession of server problems.

I think nobody really made a post about it because it was handled pretty smoothly the last time it happened. People do care, but I can understand where you're coming from. I really would hate to see FFR die.

I could understand it maybe happening once, or twice in a row. Stuff like this happens on the internet and it aint perfect, it's only perfect within the realm of power that people are given for it.

So where we at with this? I've went out for a meal & back, the only staff I saw visit this thread is myself & FFR Events... and Velocity just now although idk who visited since

I've been the one to text Synth every time the site has gone out. Last I had gotten from him was that it was odd, he didn't know why it was happening and that he was trying to figure it out. It's not some big cover up, the last time a 500 thread was made up I mentioned as well that he said he was looking into it.

Alright, well, good to get some info back on this as to what's actually happening on the back end. Guessing most we can do right now is cross fingers yes?
Hoping there isn't a catastrophic system failure or something equally terrible coming ;~;

I shot him another message asking if there's been any update on what's going on.

Edit: I did indeed get a response, yay.

He's still not entirely sure what is causing it but thinks he may have an idea. He said that he will have it resolved in the next few days. So just hang tight guys.

http 500 error is kind of an undefined error so there's not an easy way to know what exactly is going on
