    Distant Mod (R^3 Engine)

Is it possible to duplicate the "distant mod" from SM, ITG, etc. for the FFR beta engine? If so, how much work would it take to complete such a task? Also, how many other users on the site would enjoy a distant mod? Would love to hear some input from some of the Admins/Mods on this subject.

You know, it was said a few times that this wasn't possible, but I'm wondering something else -- if you can't legitimately utilize a three-dimensional playing field, would it be possible to make smaller receptors up and then have the normal size FFR noteskin tween to the smaller size of the receptors (somewhat like how the notes look a bit larger away from the receptors but smaller when they're near)?

    Just a thought, I suppose.

yes i was thinking about this too AJ, and i believe it is possible, no reason it shouldn't be right? I mean we already have mini mods. Just increase the playing field slightly (maybe with some scale on 1-100%) with the notes getting smaller as they travel.

For those that use distant for sm (me included), would make it easier to switch between the two games. Could be cool

I like your idea halo. I think that for a lot of people this could change the way FFR plays as a whole. Stepcharters could potentially do a lot more, and we could finally see a lot more challenging files accepted into the game! I know that I am at a higher level of performance than my FFR stats currently show, and I believe it is due, almost exclusively to the ability to read distant that I am so much better at sm than ffr (obviously there is more than just this one reason). The idea for the mod that shadow/halo are proposing would be a really great illusion, and would make game play similar to the "distant" mod.

Perspectives don't really dictate the way simfile artists chart, but it might improve overall performance for players as a whole.

There might be another reason as to why it cannot be done though -- just thinking of it visually/perceptively doesn't mean that it works the same physically/in code.

This was attempted before, but it looked terrible no matter how much I tried, so I just ditched it.

While 3D is possible in Flash, there's 3 major problems with it in terms of FFR:
              - Complete rewrite of everything.
              - Raises the minimum flash version to atleast 11.3.
              - Harder to work with.
