Average rank explained?

Why does my average rank go down so slowly, i don't really understand how it works like I know the more I AAA and FC songs the lower it will get. I'm trying to get the Happy Rainbow token, is there anything I know about average rank or could someone just give me an explanation on it or is it as simple as AAA and FC stoof... or does it not even have anything to do with that?

Average rank is calculated by adding up the total of your rankings on songs and dividing by the number of songs. If you have a rank of 150 on every song in the game, your average rank would be 150 for example.

Basically, whenever you improve your ranking on a song, your average rank will also go down

Basically, go from bottom to top of your list and fix what you can. Quickest way to go.
