    FFR Hand Positions

    I was just curious as to what hand positions some of you play with? I am personally right now playing with one hand. The problem with that is that I am reading the arrows but my fingers don't move fast enough. Because of this I was thinking of switching to two hands and was just curious as to what hand positions most of you used? I hope to get a couple so I can experiment with differant positions until I find the best one.

    Here are some that I have heard of,

    Indexes

    Left hand middle on left, left hand index on down, right hand index on up, right hand middle on right

    Left hand middle on left, left hand index on up, right hand index on down, right hand middle on left

    That isn't a lot, and I was hoping to maybe get some feedback so I can improve my playing.

    Thanks

        Basically just use whatever comes natural. Index's came natural when I started so I used that. I think it's dumb trying to play like someone to get as good as them =\

          I read that too. Most people just say do what is comfortable. Right now everytime I do two hand Its horrible. I guess I just need to practice more. I wanted to switch over to two hand because I tried it on a hard one and noticed that it was easier to move faster, but I didn't have the same coordination that I had with one hand.

          Every other thread I found hand positions on you had to sort through pages of flaming just to get to the good stuff. On the link IAMTHEEVILBEAN posted I had to go through maybe 4 to 5 pages just to find anything usefull, and it turns out that the list I found were exactly the same positions I posted in my original post.

          So back on topic, the main reason for my post was just to get list right off the bat with no flaming with the differant techniques people use.

          There are 3 ways that seem to work well.
          BASIC
          Left - Left middle finger
          Down - Left index finger
          Up - Right index finger
          Right - Right middle finger

          Cenright's Way
          Left - Left middle finger
          Down - Right index finger
          Up - Right middle finger
          Right - Left index finger
          Right hand is on top (Might need to tilt the keyboard for more comfort.)

          Reach's Way
          You are only using 3 fingers. It is both indexes and a middle finger.
          It requires some movement, but looking at Reach's scores, it must work.
          I don't remember exactly how the technique is set up though.
          That is from Cenright in the link that he posted. This is what I was looking for

            I may have the stupidest one of all. Using three fingers on one-handed play led to this:

            Left = L Middle
            Down = L Index
            Up = R Middle
            Right = R Ring

            When I played one handed I always kept the index on left, middle on up and down, and ring on right. So when I switched, it was only logical to keep the right hand in its "normal" position and sub in the left hand. This ends up working out nicely for me at least. It looks awkward, but it is better for me than the Index & Middle combo.

            Dude, Cenright plays weird. Well, whatever works.

              maybe Cenright is left-handed

              i use pretty much whatever is available, usually sticking to 3 fingers. most of the time it's my index on my left and my index and middle finger on my right. i often will hit the right arrow with my left fingers (for things like pivots) but that leaves my left arrow open to hit so whichever finger is closest (maybe the middle on my left, maybe the pinky on my right, who knows) hits it. sometimes if my head is itchy i will do one-handed with my right (which is odd because i'm left-handed) while scratching with my left. when i do doubles i use arrows and 4568 on the numpad and use pretty much all my fingers (no thumbs, tho).

              so really, i have no style of play, i just do whatever works, so 1 song i may use one method while in another i use another, and in some songs i use all the methods. i'd like to see what my fingers look like when i play Power Rangers. those freezes with all the arrows lead to some very odd finger positions...
              So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

              In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

              So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
              And I write the blog for their website.

              Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O
