As soon as I saw the thread, I thought this would be some serious TGB material, but no, this is actually a decent thread. Except this:

I disagree. There are no reason in the world why people wouldn't be allowed to express their opinion, although maybe it wouldn't hurt for that guy to come up with them with slightly less adversity/agressivity/anything that can make his posts repelling.

However I'm not gonna sign this, and since this is a serious thread, I'm gonna give some reasons:

I'm not a fan of the banning system, as I really don't think it's the way to do things (to some extent of course). I don't like the idea of taking something away when it bothers people and not thinking any deeper than that. This kind of action doesn't even help fixing the unwanted behaviors in a community, since people come back, do the same, and aren't even enclined to do anything different. Speaking of which, I think that emphasis should be put on rewarding the better people of this community (I've even sent people some PMs to tell people I appreciated some things they've been doing, Razor, Sky Kitten and Icyworld come to mind), instead of just mindlessly whiping the one that commit misconduct, even if repeatedly, but I'm stretching away from the isolated midnight case (which seems to be common with a few users actually)

As far as this petition goes, I would sign it if you wanted a member of the staff to deal with him, and that actually makes a lot of sense to my eyes. You clearly aren't the only one to state that you dislike his attitude, and well, it seems fair to ask the higher ups to fix the situation, without suggesting anything like a direct ban.

Lastly, I have to say that what you don't like about this game has been slowly getting better actually. I'd rather wait and see how he is going to turn out. Maybe he's gonna settle and act nicer...

That's about my opinion. Also I'm calling out the guy to write in this thread (please take the time to answer this seriously and not throwing out some lines of a baseless opinion if you happen to read this) if you didn't already ninja me. =)

PS: This kind of OP overall seems like a decent attitude to adopt on here, advening the situation has been discussed with other staff members already.

Little side note:

This *petition* is a waste of time and space here on FFR, CBR.

Think about it, if everyone starts signing this and it passes by some miraculous way, then everyone will start making petition posts about anyone that trolls or rages.

If my memory serves me right, you are huge troll yourself (cough) so if someone started a petition about you and it had enough signatures to ban you for a lengthy repeated time how would you feel?

Just take it to an admin. Austin has become a troll for a long time now, compared to how he was in VC before FFRDeath. But he isn't different then AlexDest or anyone else for that matter that has a dick up their ass.

Get over it and move on with your lives, it's FFR not the White House. We've come to know that this site went to hell in a hand basket the minute the site was revived.

It's one thing to have an opinion, but it should be constructive. You can disagree with me all you want, but the matter of the fact is that posts that are just baseless bashing have no value.

The alt thing is simply a direct violation of the rules, it's something that has not in the grey zone; you ban evade or you don't. Midnight's thing is not exactly like that, and besides, I never found him even encouraged to do anything different.

we all have different opinions on stuff, midnight is entitled to his opinions, and cbr and anyone else willing to sign such a petition have the right to be mad at midnight. Personally I don't think the mods are really going to ban midnight as a result of this thread. I do however don't think the community is going to shit. It just may seem that way sometimes, we have our ups and downs, it's just human nature.

the fact of the matter is this: the petition explicitly states this:

Commonly, in simfile discussion threads, he spews obscenities at people who contribute to this game, simply because he subjectively disagrees with how they have decided to represent the song.
Objectivity is lacking most, if not all the time, and his comments are often personal attacks upon the simfile authors, rather than constructive criticism.

when there plenty of people that give their thoughts while lacking any objectivity and personally attack the content or the person making the simfile itself. Middie is more blunt than he has to be, but simfiling is expressive in nature and no one will ever agree with it; I do agree that Middie needs to calm down a little lot, but this is entirely unnecessary and I very strongly believe that this is just an experiment by a certain group of people trying to get rid of Middie for good, when it really doesn't need to happen (see: first three signatures).

tl;dr: you might not like Middie but there are plenty of other people who should bite the bullet for more obvious reasons that for whatever reason are still being defended to stay in the community.
