R.I.P laptop

Well, after only a year, my 4th laptop has decided to stop working, but this time, it was a different way it completely stopped working. I was trying to AAA Lightning strikes again and I had no clue my monitor was slightly on top of my laptop charger cable. At around 1,500 combos, my laptop made a weird noise, shut off completely, and started smoking up with a terrible smell. The only computer I have is an old Dell computer that I can only play up to about 65's on, because if I play any faster, the keyboard doesn't register the keys fast enough. To sum it up in a nutshell, I probably won't be on FFR, Stepmania, or really anything for a good month or so. And I can hardly use this computer because my parents are usually on it. Hopefully when I come back, I'll still have my skill or who knows? I might even be better because sometimes when I take a break, I seem to get a slight skillboost.
Farewell for a little while, everyone. I'll hang around the forums occasionally just to see what's going on FFR and such.

Sounds like you just need a new charger cord, bro. Heat from the laptop combined with the monitor's weight might have led to a meltdown.

(this is also why you don't leave your laptop plugged in all the time--longer battery life if you let it discharge and recharge)

I didn't think it was possible to break 4 laptops in a year. I've never had any hardware break before so it seems kind of ridiculous.

Every year, something ridiculous happens to my laptop.
My first ever laptop which I got about five years ago, my Dad got in a fight with my Mom and threw my laptop right up against the wall, my second laptop which is already bad already had a hardware problem and it just decided to stop working. The third one was probably the only one that I actually hurt because I dropped it when I went to bring it downstairs. The fourth one had the monitor on top of the charger cable which led to a meltdown on my laptop.
I'm getting a cheap desktop this Christmas and then I'm going to upgrade it to a really good one at my local computer hardware store. They can pretty much do anything to do for a good price there.

tl;dr Desktops> laptops
