    More Classical music!!

I think we need more classical music here. I know it's harder to make a classical file than other genres, but I'm willing to give it a try and maybe send it for the next batch.

I thought stepping maybe Chopin's Ballade no.1 or Rachmaninov's Piano Sonata no.2 (well, I will probably cut them down since they are 9 and 20 minutes respectively, I want to keep my sanity at least).
If you have any songs you would like to have in-game, I would be interested stepping them.

Most importantly : I'm wondering which recordings I should chose to avoid copyright infringment. I know that classicalarchives.com have some midi files for free but I don't really know if I can step them without problems. (and honestly, I would prefer any recordings other than midi files, because they are plain and boring most of the time)

    Re: More Classical music!!

I'm really glad someone is willing to take this on. I've been occasionally looking for reasonably paced piano songs that are difficult to sync, but I'm absolutely terrible at looking for music and I would love to take a serious attempt myself.

I love Liszt's La Contrabandista, but there's no real good recording of it (nor would it really be served justice on four keys without being nothing short of stupid).

EDIT: as far as your question about stepping the .midi files, I'm pretty sure a good majority of them are licensed under Creative Commons.

Contrabandista? Just take La Campanella, add 2x more notes and BAM... success.

For that song, there's Valentina Lisitsa who made a nice cover of that song : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X_hOY6tEvM
There's also a MIDI made for that song :

Good luck if you want to step this one. haha

Also, found that site : http://kunstderfuge.com/
They're all under Creative Commons, so it's safe to use them.

          Re: More Classical music!!

The problem that I have with .midi files is that they typically lack variety. They typically don't have the inconsistency that a human player can provide. It's a shame, because it's very hard to get permission for performances, too.

            No. Just...no. Fuck you.

As for the midi (Middie? ) hate, I could do with having piano files that didn't have grace notes lurking around every corner.

This would be really hard to pull off, but really fun to play

For Valentina Lisitsa, getting permission for her music is pretty complicated because her label is based in Munich I tried before but didn't have a chance to send the permission letter to the label office. I could try again if you want though.

Good. I've been waiting for this. I'd play FFR a lot more if it contained more classical music.
You'd think there'd be lots of classical pieces on ffr already, seeing classical music usually has no copyright and is entertaining to step.

Anyone wanting to step classical music has my support.
