Average vs Overall rank

I'm curious. In general, which is lower, overall rank or average rank? What does having a higher overall than average mean? For instance, my overall is more than double my average and it seems like a lot of players I see are more the opposite.

overall rank = your player rank based off of your grandtotal score
average rank = all of your song ranks added together, divided by the amount of songs there are

If average<overall, you are efficient in lowering your avrank.

I don't know if I understand the question entirely, but overall rank represents where you are in Grand Total Score, and average rank represents the average of all the ranks of applicable songs in FFR that you have played. The better you do on songs, the better your average rank. The more you play FFR in general, the better your overall rank will be.

Overall Rank is literally just a measure of your Grandtotal score. Your average rank depends on how your ranks are in the level stats. My average rank is 1, but my overall rank is 817.

You can have a low average rank but a bigger overall rank simply from not having a really high grandtotal.

I think most of you are missing the question, he knows what they are.

It really depends on what type of player you are. If you play random songs just to have fun, the OR will be better, and if you whore down your ranks, the average will be better in general.
Totally depends on the player. Also, if you've come a long way on this site skill wise over a long period of time and never played much stepmania (like me), then your OR will be lower than your av. just for the sheer amount of time spent here.

Avrank is higher in general from looking at the top averages list, at least among people who have played a fair amount

Depends on whether you value frequent play more than having solid PA across all levels.

Also, depends on how much you can tolerate of the 1,000+ filebase, with consistently good scores.
