This was super neat and deserves a thread imo, mainly because I want other people to try this and see if they get the same result.
Instead of trying to improve scores today, I decided to try playing files that gave me a fuckton of trouble when trying to AAA them over a year ago. These were files that I'd play 25+ times in any given session without any luck snagging the AAA, until one random 'miracle' run came by where I didn't get too nervous coming into the last 100 notes or so.
So I tried a bunch of these files today...and AAA'd them all on either the first or second try.
That actually made me smile. I know you can tell you're improving when you're getting better scores on more difficult files compared to what you got in the past, but this was a pretty cool way of measuring progress for myself. Whether it was nerves, massive inconsistency on my end, major mindblocks, or maybe the file was just slightly too difficult for my skill level at the time, coming back to these files (some of which I haven't played in over a year) and destroying them all first or second try felt pretty awesome.
I implore (yes, implore) anyone who reads this to try the same and post in the thread. You might be surprised at what you can nail on command now compared to a year ago.
Here's a few of the scores for anyone interested:
