    I need some advice.

I'm having trouble differentiating between pairs of arrows and non pairs.

i play in around 18-25 difficulty, saying that alot of the times there is alot of pairs mixed in with the single arrows, i have trouble noticing they are pairs and it throws me off.

Any suggestions on how to overcome this? and dont say practice because that's what im doing, just wondering if there is a more efficient way.

Try increasing your speed mod. That helps with reading the notes better, although it'll take a while to get used to the faster reaction time required.

        Practise. I'm not joking.
Pay attention to the colour of the arrows, as they denote the beat that the arrow falls on, and yeah, increase your speedmod. Many high level players use 1.6-2.5x

Thanks for the replies, about increasing my speed, of course i wouldnt be able to got to 2 right away, would it be smart to start out at like 1.5 and gradually increase by .1 once im used to the speed until i get to 2?

I increased my speed to 1.6, took a few songs to get used to it but i'm doing decent with it. Also it spreads out the arrows alot more so i can see when it's a pair or not, thanks for the advice.

An increase in speedmod can do wonders. As a side note, try to make use of the edit button in place of double posting ;D

I play on 1.75, so you shouldn't need to ever go all the way up to 2.0 unless you really want to lol.

I play on 1.9x, just as a rule of thumb, if you start getting a bunch of late goods, it's probably too high. Anything higher than 2 makes it hard to blink without derping a good. (I use 2.3 on the R^2 engine, but that's a different story)

1.75x is a really good speedmod to play on. Not too slow, not too fast, and it helps distinguish patterns efficiently since it's a 0.25 speedmod interval. However if it's disgustingly slow for you, then you can go higher.

So my suggestion? Find something that isn't too slow, and not too fast either. Gradually you can work your way up to reading a higher speedmod, but don't go so high that you start lagging behind and getting lost.

I like 2.0 because it gives maximum note separation, good conversion, and doesn't display a lot of information I'm not using.

Surprised no one's said this yet, but if you haven't already, learn spread. My fingers fall naturally onto E-F-L-P and that's where I can play with the least tension.

Most of the best players seem to use 1.75x ASKL or something similar, though.

Everyone has different opinion on speedmod, all you can really do is experiment and figure out what works for you. I personally can play up to 2.75, but I was playing on 2.25/2.30 for a long time until AJ convinced me to try dropping down a little to get used to things being a little more dense since I was having issues reading 12s (well the old 12s I don't know what they are now) So I've been on 2.10 which has been working.

is it that you can't tell whether they are single/double notes in time, or are your fingers not quite fast enough to change it up yet? or both? i've just recently began to FC the songs you're probably stuck on... best thing that helped me was playing a large variety of songs of all different genres and skill levels that way i'm always "sightreading" (not playing a song off of memory) the combined effect of being forced to read new songs and have the finger speed to play them lead to some pretty quick improvements seemingly overnight for me.

i use 1.9 as my speedmod, QWOP as my keys, fyi. those are just my preference, find what suits you.

you dont have to go all the way to 2 for speed mod. feel free to stop when you feel that you've reached a comfortable speed

Yeah, 2 is kinda bad in ways. It gives good separation at the price of choppy animation. Find what's easy to read for you.
