    Revolutionary Etude v2

I have fleshed out an actually good file for this song. I started syncing it to the mp3 that was used in Arch0wl's file that's currently in FFR, but I am not satisfied with either the performance or the audio quality.

Does anyone have a good quality recording of this Etude that FFR has permission to use?

Preferably one where the performer doesn't wait 5 years after each right hand chord before resuming playing the left hand part because he thinks it sounds cool.
(I can appreciate rubato, but the piece is to be played "Allegro con fuoco" not "Allegro con waiting around for dramatic effect"...)

EDIT- Probably should clarify, a better performance stylistically IMO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mk1JQk90UbY, though I wouldn't use that either because he ****ed up in like 5 places lol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yq_ea5RgvOI I like too, one of the best on the Youtubez
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hOKcdZJJFU is also excellent but the audio quality here is abysmally bad, and audio quality is my main concern with Arch0wl's mp3. Basically any passable performance with good quality will be fine.

yeah Richter's is godly, that performance is really old so it has bad sound quality.

I had tried making a .midi that emulated the BPM changes at some point, but I gave up due to how much time it was taking. The piano was of decent quality, too.

Would it even be possible to make a rechart of a different version of Revo without violating permissions? I would think that you'd have to get permission from the pianist.

I vote Kommi remakes this into Revolutionary Chiptune Op10 no12. Then syncing will be no problem.

Way to try to shit on Dossar AAAing the original, guys. -_-

+1 to Frank's suggestion. A rearrangement into chiptune would mean that we might only have to get permission from the person that did the arrangement instead of the original composer/performer, since arranging a song requires a bit of creative license in and of itself IMO. Plus, then it wouldn't have to be a V2 of anything.

As an added bonus, making the stepfile easier would translate into more accessibility for the common man to classical music--they might not even realize at first that it's "classical." I've learned that piano pieces on FFR tend to have charts that are skewed towards the higher end of the difficulty spectrum, but with a hard song batch coming up, it's going to be a while.

FFR doesnt even have many hard piano charts. There is prob 1 page of hard piano charts in the classic genre and the rest are diff 10 and lower.

We need more of them, its better music and makes fun charts. People just dont want to bother to try and step piano charts =\

I think people are missing the point here...

Arch0wl's file is shit and has nothing to do with the music, even if it was synced. Which it's not. It's in Legacy for a reason.

What I have made now is a good chart that, based on the sheet music, should line up every note perfectly assuming the song is performed correctly. (I have the sheet music myself, it's pretty easy to see oh that's a 16th note so I put a 16th note there in Stepmania, etc etc)
What I want to do is get a good mp3 and then sync it.

Because Chopin DIED IN 1849 we don't need to get permission from him. Major lol at people saying we need permission from the composer.
We do, however, need to get permission from the performer, which is why I made this thread in the first place.

                          Hope that clears things up.

EDIT- to people thinking this file will be hard, it's not really going to be. "Allegro" is to be played "fast, quickly and bright" which encompasses a range of about 120-160 bpm. The mp3 that Arch0wl used is REALLY slow as far as renditions of this Etude go, it's about 110bpm or less usually. But really, 140bpm jumpstream is not considered that hard these days... right? There's a few polyrhythms but nothing that bad, certainly it will be easier than Arch's file.
(Richter plays it at like 190bpm because he's a crazy mofo but I have a feeling we won't be able to get permission from him. Sadface.)

EDIT 2- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gi5VTBdKbFM This is the performance by Valentina Lisitsa. She's a great pianist, even though I'm not really a fan of her interpretation of this particular piece. BUT more importantly she's rather tech-savvy and open-minded as far as piano virtuosos go, so maybe she would be open to having her work featured in a rhythm game? I have her DVD of "24 Chopin Etudes" so at least I can vouch for the audio quality :P
Anyone who likes doing these asking-for-permission emails might want to give her a try? She has tons and tons of other piano stuff too... (stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUVCGsWhwHU would be fun to try to step!)

                            Re: Revolutionary Etude v2

Was going to respond to this when I noticed the thread on RSS, but then the 403 thing happened so arf.

I remember a long while ago you uploaded your WIP folder, and I think the only thing I ended up doing with that was taking FFR's Revolutionary Etude .mp3 and syncing it in SM to the beat. Like I think last week I randomly decided to start working on it again in ddream, and I synced all the beats properly and put the single notes down to significant sounds. I've been layering the steps and syncing with sub-beats as I go along and such...

In what I've stepped, I do have all the left-hand stuff layered in, but I'll see what happens as I get to other sections where that isn't as prominent ... 'Cause the quality isn't very good. Can't see the left-hand notes with the wave filter, and it gets very mushy at low rates ... But I will be able to get through it fine with some more work.

You already have the steps done and just need a good performance to sync it too though uh ... So if someone's getting a better performance to step then I guess I don't really need to bother with this anymore. If my completing this file will ruin a plan of getting a better performance with good steps in-game, well, yeah. When a new performance is found and permission is given from the performer, I can do the syncing if no one else wants to.

Oh please if you've already synced that file then submit it with Arch's mp3. It's not THAT bad, I'd love to have a v2 with a proper file of this song no matter who performs it.

I was just digging that crap out of my WIP folder too
If you'd like I can send you my file I have. It has all notes pretty much perfect based on the sheet music (good PR and whatnot) but it's not synced at all. If you have the sync tho then
