    Trill/Jack Practice

I randomly came up with this idea to make a file that pertains to practicing trills and jacks. (I'm not sure if a similar idea has been passed across for just this purpose. If it has, I haven't heard of it.) You can find the download link for the file at the end of this post, but I suggest you read through all of the post. It isn't that long of a read. =P

DarkbearX whipped up a quick mp3 that has 16th beats starting at 50bpm, all the way up to 999bpm. The length of each bpm increment goes like this...
    50bpm-140bpm: Two measures.
    140bpm-400bpm: Eight measures.
    400bpm-999bpm: 16 measures.

There are pauses between each separate trill for a small rest.

Yes, it is pretty pointless to have 16th trills going higher than 400bpm, since anything beyond that doesn't seem within reach to any player. I made trills go up to 999bpm because I figured, "Why the hell not?" You can turn fail off and try to trill that fast if you want to break your fingers off, haha. The file is for practice, anyways, and it isn't meant to be passed.

I included a text document with the bpms used in this file, as well as which difficulty contains each trill. I understand I could have made just one difficulty and had people mirror that trill or turn it left/right, but having a different type of trill per difficulty lets you compare your different top scores per trill setup. I do not have a difficulty that contains a left and right arrow trill. Sorry. ):

Here are the bpms used in this file. (Enable your background to view the current bpm while playing the file.) :

    BPMS:

    50
    80
    110
    140
    170
    192
    210
    240
    270
    300
    330
    363
    400
    430
    471
    490
    519
    545
    583
    620
    653
    683
    720
    758
    791
    817
    851
    888
    925
    951
    981
    999

Also, here are the difficulties containing each different type of trill:

    Beginner: Left/Down trill.
    Easy: Right/Up trill.
    Standard: Right/Down trill.
    Heavy: Left/Up trill.
    Oni: Up/Down trill.
    Edit: Jacks.

Edit contains jacks on one arrow. I saw no point in making multiple difficulties for that when you can just switch your finger.

I also thought of a fun idea involving challenges with this. I will include different ideas in my next post, as well as have a top score list per challenge. If people find it fun/interesting, I'll keep it updated.

Special thanks to DarkbearX for making the mp3 for this. I hope people find this to be helpful, fun, and challenging at the same time. Feel free to post any suggestions in this thread. Thanks!

The file can be found here: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...p?songid=24736

    Re: Trill/Jack Practice

Here are some challenges you can try out. I put the Left/Up and Right/Down trill together because I feel that the style and balance of doing these two trills is pretty similar in comparison to the other trills. If the majority feels that they should be kept apart, then I can make those changes.

Endurance Challenge (See how long you can last.):
    Left/Down (Left Hand trill):
    1. Black Yoshi - 240
    2. remedy1502 - 210
    2. charless - 210

    Right/Up (Right Hand trill):
    1. Black Yoshi - 240
    2. remedy1502 - 210
    3. charless - 192

    Up/Down trill:
    1. remedy1502 - 270
    1. Kotarouchan - 270
    3. charless - 210

    Left/Up trill and Right/Down trill:
    1. NetJet! - 270
    1. HammyMcSquirrel - 270
    1. remedy1502 - 270
    1. customstuff - 270
    1. Kotarouchan - 270
    6. charless - 240
    6. Black Yoshi - 240
    8. mike2727 - 210

    Jacks:
    1. NetJet! - 192
    1. HammyMcSquirrel - 192
    1. remedy1502 - 192
    4. charless - 170

For these next two challenges, you'll want SM 4.0 so you can see your results after you fail the song. If anyone knows of a way to do this in SM 3.9, let me know.

    Accuracy Challenge (Highest score.):
    Left/Down (Left Hand trill):
    1.

    Right/Up (Right Hand trill):
    1.

    Up/Down trill:
    1.

    Left/Up trill and Right/Down trill:
    1.

    Jacks:
    1.

    Combo Challenge (Biggest combo.):
    Left/Down (Left Hand trill):
    1. customstuff - 567
    2. Black Yoshi - 144

    Right/Up (Right Hand trill):
    1. MrMagic5239 - 411
    2. Black Yoshi - 221

    Up/Down trill:
    1. Kotarouchan - 654

    Left/Up trill and Right/Down trill:
    1. HammyMcSquirrel - 606
    2. Kotarouchan - 599
    3. NetJet! - 344
    4. Black Yoshi - 149

    Jacks:
    1. HammyMcSquirrel - 219
    2. NetJet! - 129

                Re: Trill/Jack Practice

It seems like you can't fail in Beginner mode on SM 4.0, haha. I don't know if there is a way to fix that (or if it's just a problem on my end), but SM 3.9 still fails you out, so that can be used for the Beginner difficulty.

Edit: Netjet, post some screenshots and I can throw your name up there. I want people to get into that habit. That way, people will be able to tell how far others have made it, judging by the amount of marvelouses, perfects, greats, misses, etc.

Edit2: Oh, wait. You need SM 4.0 to post score results after failing a song. I guess I'll have to go on the honor system for now, unless someone knows of a way to have your results show after failing a song in SM 3.9.

You'd have to turn fail off or something, but then it wouldnt show where you failed.

I tried once for combo on the jacks. I can probably do better, but not much better. 170bpm kills me.

                          Edit: Haha, yay.
