(though I don't know too much yet) I'm currenly studying for a degree in game art and design. | | Interests: | Like: Music, video-games (ask about my DS friend codes if you want), roller-blading/ice skating, anime, manga, drawing/painting, and lots more. :)
Dislike: Furries (seriously, there is a reason humans don't have fur and claws), music elitists, video-game fanboys/girls, and people who have enough energy to whine about their sucky life but not enough energy to do something about it. | | Fav Music: | A little of everything. Dir en Grey, Maximum the Hormone, Within Temptation, musicals, Blue October, Evanescence, and much more.

Page 3 Stereotypes and labelsPosted on: February 6, 2008, at 04:25:42pm [ 0 comments] Stereotypes and labels are only a way to confine people down and catagorize them.
Let me ask you; if you had to describe yourself in one word, could you? I know I couldn't. So, tell me, why should we force others into one-word existences? And why, when we find someone that does not fit in any of our little catagories, do we make a new catagory to force them into?
Life forced into one word is no life at all.
Down with labels! No more shall others be known as "emo", "goth", "prep", "nerd", or "jock".
Let our generation be the one that ends the catagorizing! Cutting - misconceptions and factsPosted on: February 4, 2008, at 04:12:22pm [ 1 comment] -Cutting does NOT mean you are emo. (and likewise: your "emo-ness" is not connected with your cutting)
-Cutting does not mean you want to commit suicide.
-Cutting is addictive.
-Cutting is a way to release stress, anger, or pain.
-Cutting feels good due to endorphines in the brain that release during the process.
-Most "real" cutters (not dumb emo kids that think it is a way to be cool) hide their cuts very carefully and fear that people will find out about their problem (so if you think you have a friend that cuts, be careful how you talk to them about it).
-Many cutters have a low tolerence for pain outside of cutting.
-The majority of self-harmers (this covers a wider area than cutters) are between 11 and 25.
-1 in 12 or 1 in 15 people in this age group have self-harmed before or are currently self-harming.
-Reasons for cutting are various, but the two most popular are stress and dissociation (feeling numb, disconnected, or lost).
-Most self-injury reasons are personal to the person involved and hard to explain to others.
-Other reasons may include self-loathing (self-hatred), to draw attention (very unlikely in real cutters), sexual release, to feel in control, to make others feel guilty or bad, and/or to punish yourself.
-Cutters are people too. Don't look down on them for their way of dealing with pain. Cutting is just like drinking or smoking to deal with stress.
