Arrow Changes

Posted in Uncategorized on November 12th, 20021 Comment »

As an experiment I have changed the arrows and some of the animation that goes along with the arrows. Do you like? Dislike? The CPU usage is a little higher with the new arrows but not by much. Voice your opinion on the FFR forum via the link at the top of this page.

Funk, Well Done

Posted in Uncategorized on November 10th, 20021 Comment »

The good news is that I have finished the other 3 songs for the funk section. The hi-scores are empty so get in the list before the pro’s like 87x, ducknoodlesoup, codedontgreene (to many to mention) rack up the hi-scores! The bad news is that we are still working on the new pre-loader. We will finish it as soon as possible.

New Forum

For those of you interested or who would like to drop by and say hello, I have created a temporary (maybe perm?) FFR forum located ->HERE<- (no longer valid since the new xqsite went up in late November)

Wow!

I am just floored by all the people who have been playing FFR. We are averaging about 1.5gb+ of transfer bandwidth per day.

Tomorrow we will hopefully be putting up a new version with lots of updates including the new preloader system for the songs and an additional 3 songs for funk and 1 song in the next genre of music. This means these songs will have fresh untouched hi-score tables! :)

I have been entertaining the thought of erasing the hi-scores once a week or day but then having a master hi-score list that is updated everytime the daily or weekly hi-scores are erased. Thoughts anyone?

I also wanted to note that it is possible this game will not play smoothly on a PIII400mhz or slower because we are pushing the Flash engine’s pixel capability pretty far. I have noticed that on my PIII600mhz it runs at almost the full 30fps and that on my P4 2.2ghz machine it has no problems running + lots of room to spare. I am sorry to those who have the slower machines. We will do what we can to lower the cpu requirements but cannot promise those requirements will change much.

Thanks to everyone who has played the game and spread the word about FFR. We will continue to update the graphics and quality of the game.

Hi-Score Change

Posted in Uncategorized on November 2nd, 20021 Comment »

I will be fixing a slight bug tonight. The top 50 hi-scores available from the main screen do not work if you exit a level and then try to view them. You can only view them when you first enter the site or when you refresh. I will see if I can get that bug out of the way.
We are fully switched to our new dedicated box and it seems like everything has propagated correctly. If you find any bugs or the piece does not load correctly for you, give me a hollar.

New Server!

If you are seeing this post then you are officially on our new server. We have switched to completely new dedicated box which should handle our bandwidth needs.

No Time

Ok.. ok.. I didn’t get to the rest of the songs yesterday for the funk section. I promise I will work on that tonight some. I did however tackle the hi-score feature that is available everytime you roll over a song number and the song info moves in from the right. When you do this from the main screen, look on the far right. If you click on the ‘hi-score’ button it should bring up the Top 50 Hi-Scores of All Time for that level. I silently switched the scoring from recording the top 10 to the top 50 about 3 days ago when I decided that I would add this feature. As people get bumped out of the top 10 spots, they can still see their name in the top 50 from the main page. Please let me know if you find any strange bugs with these new features.
I also want to apologize for the 5 hour outage we had today. We are back up and running strong. It was nothing serious.

Beta Funk

Added the new Funk section to FFR. Hit the downward pointing green arrow until you cycle to the funk section. I just released the first song/level and will release the other 4 as the night moves on. Hope you enjoy the tunes the first funk song 1 is a whopping 1.05mb (just short of 4 mins).
I also wanted to mention that I am looking for people to supply songs and beats for these songs. Please contact me via the email at the bottom of the page if you are interested. You will get credits within the levels for your work. This is beta release .33 for those of you keeping track. P.S. Turned the volume on the looping beat (main screen) down to about 25% for those of you who wished it so.

Font Issues

Fixed a few font issues. I did not realize that the main font was not embedding. This caused some machines to display wacky fonts for the combos etc. More to come later in the day
