FFR Contest is Over!!

Posted in Uncategorized on August 13th, 200332 Comments »

Well it is hard to believe that an entire week has passed since I put up the contest. There has been some furious action going on when it comes to high-scores and I will be announcing the winner as early as tomorrow morning if my research goes as quickly as planned. I have to verify that certain people have legitimate scores. I have already disqualified a few people who failed the score checks and logs. I really wish these people would come forward and PM so that we can make FFR a better game. Hell, I would even be willing to send them a prize if they shared their methods with me.

At any rate.. I know the legitimate scores and will catch you all tomorrow and post some results. Thanks for participating in the contest. As of this week, FOTBB will become a normal level in classical.

Cheers,

Synthlight

CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO THE STREAM (broadband only)

*SYNTHLIGHT EDIT 8:40pm CST** Waiting for Spook and Sash to logon and will get them underway in about 20 minutes or so. Thanks to everyone already listening. We are getting quite a turnout.

*SYNTHLIGHT EDIT 9:05pm CST** Spook and Sash are on and broadcasting from their place live now. They have the server for the rest of the evening… If the stream sped up or slowed down, you might have to reconnect. All lights green.. Thanks guys

**SYNTHETIC EDIT 11:00pm CST** Well. The show is over and the normal playlist is back on. Big thanks to Spook and Sash for their time. It was enjoyed but quite a few people over the last 2 hours. Hopefully all the connections won’t break my bank on server transfer… wow.. lol.. Great set guys!

FFR Contest Announcement.. BIG PRIZE!!!!!!!!!

Posted in Uncategorized on August 6th, 200360 Comments »

Well.. As if the big live show on Friday with Sashcat
& Spook Goblin wasn’t enough, we are announcing a new contest that will begin
immediately from the start of this post and will last 7 days (August 12th at
midnight CST).

PRIZE: 1 DDR MAX game for the Playstation2 along with 2 (YES 2!) Red Octane Soft
Pads.

CONTEST GOAL: Attain the HIGHEST score on a new level that we have released
tonight before the end of the contest 1 week from now. Follow these instructions
in order to start the level.
1.) Load FFR
2.) Press the HOME key
3.) Type fotbb into the window
4.) Press the X icon and wait for level to load
5.) Attain highest score before midnight on August 12th

ADDITIONAL RULES: You can play as many times as you wish but remember NO
cheating. We log everything with these songs so that we can go back later and
look at activity and how people achieved their scores. Not only do we log the
scores but there are some routines in place that will auto-erase your hi-scores
and or account the scripts detect cheating. Any foul play or if we even suspect
foul play, you will be disqualified. Any activity to disrupt or illegally enter
the server will be met with legal action. Just remember to have fun with this. I
provide FFR for the fun of it. For the love of the FFR/DDR community.

ABOUT THE LEVEL: This level is based on music composed by the great Rimsky
Koraskov (Flight of the BumbleBee). The DWI was created by Arch0wl and is
definately one of the more difficult but well crafted levels that I have come
across. This level rates as a 12 on difficulty. Yeah, it is hard but because it
flows so well you will learn it’s patterns fairly easy. I personally cannot even
finish it yet but that is just me. :) Big thanks for Arch0wl for donating this
fine piece of work.

ABOUT OUR SPONSOR: Well… That’s me, Synthlight. The money is comming out of my
own pocket on this one. Consider it an early Christmas gift. Lol. If you want to
help support FFR then order a webhosting account from my webhosting business
that I run to cover FFR costs. We now offer $8 domain registration!
http://www.postproduction.com/v2/
(that links to the new site layout that is 90% complete but fully operational
from a billing/system standpoint. Comments welcome). FFR as always is 100% free.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: There will be a second mystery prize announced for the top
score on a random level. This second prize follows the same rules as above only
with a different level and a different prize. :) Don’t PM me, i won’t tell you
what the prize or level is. Good Luck on the contest and remember to take it
easy on those fingers! BTW, if your configuration does not want to load the
level or if you have troubles you may ask around but please don’t bother any
admins. This level is tested and works on all common browser configurations that
support the Macromedia Flash player plugin.

DJ’s Sashcat & Spook Goblin Wreck’n the Decks One Last Time on FFR

Posted in Uncategorized on August 5th, 20037 Comments »

DJ’s Sashcat and Spook Goblin willing be mixing live one LAST time together this FRIDAY at 9pm CST on our FFR Radio stream (http://207.44.158.35:8000/listen.pls). This will be the last time you hear them together before Sashcat leaves the Los Angles area in pursuit of life and other unknown interests.
We have no predetermined time that they will stop broadcasting so they may just go until their fingers fall off. So make sure you tune in on Friday night. This will definately be a show that you don’t want to miss as it will be the last of it’s kind for Spook & Sash.

Up until showtime we will be playing DDR & FFR tunes non-stop at the streaming address. At show time there will be a brief disconnect in the stream and then Sash & Spook will take over and carry us through the rest of the evening. :)

See you all on Friday!

*EDIT* – My mistake. Sash is merely going on vacation to a far away place ;) . I was misinformed.

Home is Where the Heart Is.. NEW BETA .52 OUT!

Posted in Uncategorized on July 23rd, 200333 Comments »

Well.. It is about time damnit! (yelling at myself). We have released the .52 that was promised to you guys. This last week has thrown a bunch of curves at me and I have done my best to squeeze in time for this update. Do not forget to CLEAR YOUR CACHE and then RELOAD this website if you don’t see version .52

The changes are as follows:

New Score and Health meter bar to replace the old beta version from about 6 months ago. These graphics will continue to be developed in the comming months. Thanks to Bemaniruler for all his time and help with graphics he has worked on and is continuing to develop for further versions of FFR.

Version detection. FFR now will let you know if you are running a version that is out of date and will direct you on what to do to update. Most of the time this is a clear cache issue or simply downloading a new version from flashflashrevolution.com

Force wait until avatar data loads.. In the past there were instances when your avatar would show up as a small square dot in the game on occasion. This happened when the game was able to load quicker than the data from the database. It now waits until the data loads.. if it doesnt load within about 8 seconds it will proceed to play without the data.

Secrets…uhhh… Secret codes you enter.. not saying much more than that.

New song info display in the bottom right that now INCLUDES the stepfile makers as had previously been demanded by a few.

Please let me know if you run across any errors. I do my best to find the suckers but cannot catch everything. Hope you enjoy the new version! New downloadables to be wrapped up soon as well.

P.S. Don’t forget to visit FFRChat and say hello to everyone.

Cheers,

Synthlight

Chat rules

Posted in Uncategorized on July 19th, 200312 Comments »

The new chat is here and gives us quite a few nice features as well. Be sure to thank Synth for putting up the new program.
Now that the chat features moderation options, it is time to go over its rules, essentially general netiquette which some have been lacking in the chat lately.

The following rules apply to the general lobby. Anything happening in private chats is exactly that – private. If you can not accept taking the responsibility for what someone might say to you in the private chats, do not accept invitations or invite people you do not know into your private chat.
Upon entering the chat, you agree to understanding the general rules and understand you can be kicked without warning (although most of us are nice and will give you a warning unless the infraction is annoying and/or intolerable), or in severe cases, banned from the site altogether.
You can be kicked for:
1) Flamming/threatening other members in chat. Keep it out of the main lobby. There is a difference between debating and arguing. If someone is flamming and there is a mod, present, don’t argue back as both members of the flamming/arguing/etc. are eligible to be kicked.
2) No spamming. Do not enter repeated blank spaces, emoticons or gibberish. Yes, the new emoticon graphics are cool, but people do not want to see them flash over and over and over again. If you feel you absolutely must see all of the emoticons, please create a private room to view them in.
Those were the two basic broken rules of netiquette in the previous chat rooms, so let’s please control the flamming and spamming.

Also, in regard to the game itself:
1) There are no secret songs in FFR. All of the bugs are being removed. Seriously. No for real. Honestly. They won’t be there within the next few betas, so do not talk about them on the chat (there are good reasons, and if you honestly still do not understand why, I guess you can ask me through PM or AIM), and also no mention of them on the forums.
2) Do not talk about hacking FFR in the chat. This will be a kick without warning and a possible banning from the site altogether.

More rules may be added in the future as needed, but as long as you stick to general netiquette, you will be just fine. The chat is there to have fun, meet new people and talk to other friends. Please follow the rules and make the chat for other people.

These rules will remain in the forums under the FFR GENERAL forum.

LIVE BROADCAST TONIGHT!

Posted in Uncategorized on July 17th, 20038 Comments »

Well.. The live broadcast has come and gone. Big thanks go out to DJ’s Sashcat and Spook Goblin for carrying us through most of the night. It has been an incredible few hours.
I know that a few of you missed the live show because of dialup. I may be able to convince Spook and Sash to give me an .mp3 version of what they mixed tonight live so that people can download it. I believe they recorded the stream but am not 100% sure.

In other news….

a portion of my house flooded tonight as some massive storms swept through the Chicago area. I am currently swapping out buckets and trying to keep some drywall intact.

It is also my son’s 2nd birthday today. He was more than happy to stay up about 16 hours straight today. lol

I am currently working on getting the new downloadables and online beta version ready tonight but it may be awhile. I am set back about 6 hours because of all the flooding etc. Do not fear, you will get your downloads ASAP or else you have the right to personally kick my ass.

Talk to you all soon! Thanks for all those who stopped by and listened in on the show. We had a good turnout.
