Thanks to the New Artists and New Songs From Veteran Artists on FFR

Posted in Uncategorized on November 21st, 200311 Comments »

Just wanted to thank all the new artists that have been submitting to FFR, we will work our hardest to get your music on the site. We do see everything that is submitted in the audio section of the forum even if we don’t respond that often.

A long overdue thanks goes out to DJ rage for his 2 contributions in the past. He was the musician behind both Uber Rave and “For FFR”. I apologize for not mentioning him sooner. He is a superb artist and deserves the props. Thanks again Rage. Hope to see more from you soon.

This week we also saw 3 new stepfiles and 2 new songs go up. The first one was “Ball of Malt” which has caused quite a stir in the forums. Very talented group even if the music is not your ball of malt (funny am i!).

Secondly, Arch0wl restepped “Stay with me” to be 100% original and extended for the duration of the original song. This V2 can be found in the shop for 200 credits. I know all the celldweller fans were looking forward to that one. Great song, just love it.

Last but not least we attained a new song from Spook Goblin of For Great Justice. The song is La Luna Caida.. Where is it? hmmmm.. That’s a secret. Spook G never fails to amaze me with his tunes. His tunes are always recognizable but always unique in their own way.

We should hopefully have a few more songs up for you guys soon. We have a whole vault of them we are trying to get converted and out to the public.

Cheers,

Synthlight

The Spook G is On FFR Radio

Tonights show is starting now, it had been postponed for 2 hours due to an emergency trip to the hospital tonight… It’s a long story but it starts with me nearly ripping off the tip of my finger with an rc plane propeller earlier in the day..

I don’t want to be boring you to death with my stories of blood baths and horrible typing skills. I now end this piece and leave you in the hands of Mr. Spook Goblin.

Cheers,

Synthlight

*EDIT SYNTHLIGHT* – Don’t forget to tell all your friends! Lets see how many people we can load onto the server tonight. Get them on FFR Radio!!! WHOOT! :)

First Title In the Misc Genre! The Shots!

Posted in Uncategorized on November 18th, 200311 Comments »

I wanted to take time out this morning to announce the first song in the Misc genre. The song is called “Ball of Malt” by The Shots. Definately not what you normally would find in a game like FFR but a very welcome addition. I found myself quickly addicted to the song after listening to it just a few times. The Shots are a BlueGress, Irish, Old Time and Cajun type band and have some fantastic talent if you ever want to stray from the electronic path and dive into something accoustic and original. You can find their website at http://www.theshotsmusic.com.

Arch0wl wrote the stepfile and agreed to tone down the difficulty a bit in order to make the level more playable for most of the FFR audience (difficulty 7). Thanks to Arch for being so willing to work on this interesting song.

More songs to come this week!

Cheers,

Synthlight

WTF? Seriously. WTF?

Posted in Uncategorized on November 16th, 200316 Comments »

Well, it seems somebody has hacked the Forums, erasing all the topics/threads. No, I dont know what happened, so stop asking. But look at the bright side, it’s as if we have been given a fresh start. I’m doing my best to get things back to normal, and I am sure the rest of the staff are too. So just bear with us until we can fix the problem.

Thanks.

*EDIT SYNTHLIGHT* – Database backups are a nice thing to have. Now looking at the logs to see who was doing what.

*EDIT SYNTHLIGHT* – Database should be back to normal.. or pretty close. We got rolled back a few days but I think we are gonna be just fine.

And Then There Was A Shop..

Posted in Uncategorized on November 14th, 200365 Comments »

Tonight will be the night that shop opens. We have finally brought the code to a point where the shop section works and there will be one song for credit sale tonight. This weekend will kind of be a test to make sure that everything works ok with the store. I need to do a little prep and then will put up version .66 (new version with the store). Let me know if you guys find any strange bugs because we have changed alot of the internal code.
Big thanks go out to Marc Tanenbaum for all his amazing help and organization. Truly a talent if you ever need any flash work done. Run over to flashmxfiles.com and PM him a big thanks if you get the chance. Without him the shop may not have been possible for the next 6 months. :)

Should be about 2 hours from the time of this post until the Shop opens.

*EDIT SYNTHLIGHT* – The shop is now open and the first song is available. It is about twice the size of a normal song but should be worth it. Lots of credits are needed but only those with that many credits should be capable of it’s difficulty.

I would like to thank the following people for allowing the use of this level in the game. Without them I wouldn’t have the permissions needed and because of that I am very grateful.

512kb for his permission and willingness to give me files :)
Cranky for the permission to to use the party 4u “holy nite mix” music
Sukima Sangyo at Scheme_a Network
Akira (Heppoko movies
And last not least Arch0wl for making the stepfile and not telling anyone about it. :)

Cheers,

Synthlight

*EDIT SYNTHLIGHT* – PAGE TWO OF DANCE DOES NOT WORK TONIGHT. IT WILL BE FIXED IN THE MORNING.

*EDIT SYNTHLIGHT* – FINDING OUT THAT SOME PEOPLES COMPUTERS (or rather keyboards) CANNOT HANDLE 3 ARROWS AT A TIME. MAY BE ADJUSTING THE STEPFILE.

Where O’ Where Has My Little Synth Gone?

Wow, what a week for me last week. I know that many of you were trying to get ahold of me and were wondering where I was. The truth was that we had a loss in the family. I really don’t want to nor will I go into it. I took a little time off and kept my FFR/Work time to a minimum. Please don’t bother asking what happened because I will not go into it. Just keep in mind that sometimes if I don’t respond to you for a day or so, it has nothing to do with who you are. It doesn’t mean you have to go all psycho and get on my case thinking that I hate you.

Anyways, I am back now and trying to get the newest update for FFR ready. We have been working on the code for the shop and are about 70% done with it. I hate to give release dates but would estimate that maybe sometime this week you will FINALLY see that shop open. I have the first song ready and from there we can start a whole bunch of new songs for purchase. I plan for these songs (all of them) to have interesting backgrounds or something that makes these levels unique. If anyone is good with flash and would like to participate in some interesting level creation please let me know. I am all ears.

Expect to hear from me again soon this week. I have a couple ideas that I would like to pass by everyone for comments and suggestions.

Cheers,

Synthlight

FFR Wants You!

Posted in Uncategorized on October 28th, 200367 Comments »

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are addressing the bugs that came up in the new version over the weekend. Let us know if everything is running smoothly and if you encounter anything out of the ordinary. We should have most of the bugs fixed already.

Make sure you clear your cache and reload the page before testing for bugs. :)

Cheers,

.65 Released this morning for testing

Posted in Uncategorized on October 25th, 200376 Comments »

.65 was released this morning for some testing. Hopefully we will be able to squash any bugs within a few days. I will first list the features followed but what I have found are bugs.

*Multiple layouts. We now offer 4 styles of play for those of you who want to make the Mario level a challenge. I think the layout choices and location are pretty obvious once you load the game.
*New hi-score routines.. Yes, more anti-hacker stuff. We keep trying.
*Minor experimental graphic changes including yellow bar that drops down from the top of the list to either show the top player or your entry (if you place in the top 10).
*Lots of internal changes.. I won’t go into them.

Now for the bugs found that will be corrected.

*Purchased area show the songs from whatever genre you last visited. It won’t load anything as of right now though. It will eventually be used to show songs you have purchased from the shop

*Sometimes will show multiple copies of your name in the hi-score if you have placed in the top 10 of a song twice during the same sitting. Refreshing the page/game will eliminate this. The hi-score list (database) doesn’t actually contain your name twice, it just looks that way.

*On very rare occasion you will be directed to the FBI website because the game thinks you are hacking. I haven’t personally experienced this but Qreepy reported it. (he said this happened when he tried to play Fette’s Vette)

*Max combo problem reported by only 1 person. Will look into this as well. Supposedly very high max combo’s will sometimes be registered as very low max combo’s. I say sometimes but I have only heard of this happening to 1 person. I cannot verify it.

I probably didn’t cover all the new features but have very little time and wanted to get this news out for everyone today.

BTW… New level from Hyrogashi comming out today. Sorry to Hyro for not finishing it last night. We were squashing bugs until the late hours of the nite.

Cheers,
