Day 8: January’s Song by The Fat’s Sabobah

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on December 20th, 200632 Comments »

Yes, today’s song is called January’s Song. We’re quite aware that it’s not January yet, but we’re putting this song out anyway in…anticipation. ;)

The song is by The Fat’s Sabobah, known on FFR as forum moderator and long-time FFR vet jewpinthethird. Last night’s song took a nosedive in difficulty from Day 6′s song, and we’ll be somewhat gradually climbing back up again in difficulty, as you can see from tonight’s song–it’s around a 3/3.5 on the 6-point scale, using some jump-step 8th patterns and 16th bursts, although at a rather low BPM. The steps are by jimerax, and they’re as fun to play as all of jimerax’s files are. :)

The song can be found in Misc. Why Misc again? Tass and I feel that Dance is getting rather long, and that it’s better to have a couple bigger genres then a lot of tiny genres and one gigantic, 10+ page genre.

Anyway, have fun with January’s Song.

Merry FFR’ing,

Shash

For the next hour, multiplayer and profile chat will be down while we try to keep system load under control. We appreciate your patience.

Day 7: See You Dance by Star Salzman

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on December 19th, 200632 Comments »

A mere 4 AAA’s on last night’s song. Told you it would be the toughest so far. But be warned…it’s definitely not the hardest of the 12 Christmas songs ;)

Today’s song is another song by Star Salzman, who also did the FFR Misc song Platypus. As Tass said yesterday, we’re taking a break from our steadily increasing difficulty to bring you a song that’s nearly as easy as Day 1′s song: See You Dance. Like Day 1′s relatively easy Christmas song, See You Dance is also stepped by dore, and is around a 2 on the 6-point scale, employing nothing harder than a scattered few 16ths and some longer 8th runs. It should be a fairly simple FC for almost anyone, and an easy AAA for any of the vets. You can find See You Dance in the top left corner of the Misc section.

(Tass has had a bit of a long day today, so I’m doing today’s news post instead, for anyone who’s curious).

Happy FFR’ing,

Shash

Day 6: Classical Insanity by DM Ashura

Posted in Song of the Week on December 18th, 200665 Comments »

I gave everyone a clue in the FFR General Talk thread… but it would appear nobody noticed. Classical Insanity is an awesome mix by our favorite remixer in the whole wide world, DM Ashura. And of course… stepped by everyone’s favorite stepfile artist (except for EHHS, GGC, etc etc etc) Shashakiro. 1 part Revo, 1 part Moonlight Sonata, 1 part Rondo, 1 part HD5, 1 part B-Virus, 1 part FotBB (and 3 other not as cool parts because they aren’t seperate files in FFR… yet) = Classical Insanity, for sure.

Definitely a solid 5 on the difficulty chart between long streams at 175bpm (few jumpstream) and those DREADED running men. Will be difficult for the average FFRer to even pass and the great FFRer to FC. Don’t expect a AAA unless your name is Shash, Baha, JX, or scottish (maybe a few other uber FFRers). Although, we’ve steadily gone up in difficulty over the past 6 days… tomorrow we go back down to the easy file; the cake AAA.

Oh yea. It is located in Classical (duh). 3rd row, middle.

Enjoy the insanity,

Tass

Day 5: {Firestorm} by cornandbeans

Posted in Song of the Week on December 17th, 200633 Comments »

OK guys… I want you to go HERE right now. What is it, you ask? It is cornandbeans‘ music page. All of you need to listen to his stuff, that is how good it is. {Firestorm} is an Ethnic Techno / House song that has a very unique sound to it. It is stepped by newcomer Silvuh, who I don’t know very well, but it just goes to show… you don’t need to be an FFR God or a forum regular with 5000 posts to get your stepfile onto FFR. Once again, you can find the file in the lower left hand corner of Dance (expect a few non-Dance in the next couple of days, I promise!).

Also, expect a few more of cornandbeans’ songs appearing in FFR over the next few weeks. You can read and post comments about his songs in this thread. If you are interested in stepping a song for FFR, please read the information in this thread.

This file continues the trend of each file being more difficult than the one before. It is 2:38 long and has 1010 arrows. A 4.5 on the 6.0 scale, IMO. Basically… we’ve gone from 100+ AAAs on Come With Me to 58 on Horizon to 38 on Kick It to 9 on Palindrome… I’d be shocked if we have more than 5 or 6 on {Firestorm} after 48 hours.

Until we repeat this dance again tomorrow night,

Day 4: Back to Sanxion7

Posted in Song of the Week on December 16th, 200624 Comments »

Since everyone liked Horizon so much, we’re giving you another shot of Sanxion7. Palindrome is yet another very unique sound. On Sanxion’s website, he says that the song is inspired by TaQ, and it does have a bit of a TaQ sound.

This file is also pretty unique, and I hope we don’t have that strong of a negative reaction to it. It is EXTREMELY repetitive, but it is done that way on purpose to fit the song. Personally, I like the way our 1st Lady of FFR, Kit-, stepped it… but I can also see how some people wont’ like it. My advice: make sure your right arrow isn’t broken; you’re going to need it in this file.

You can find it in the lower left hand corner of Dance. I’d say that it is a 3.0 or 3.5, although definitely harder to FC and AAA because of the 32nds.

Discuss it here. Brag about it here.

I’m running out of stuff to say in these daily news posts,

Day 3: Kick It by 4ERO

Posted in Song of the Week on December 15th, 200627 Comments »

Moving right along, Kick It is a bit harder than Horizon, with a few small 16th trills at 160bpm. Still only a 3.5 or so. You can check out 4ERO’s songs here. Steps are by KgZ. You can find it in the lower left hand corner of Dance.

The interesting note about this file is that we originally rejected it. I then was sent another version of the file by BLAZZE, and tested the old one vs the new one, and realized that I actually liked the old one. So we moved it from rejected into queue. From that, you should be able to infer (correctly) that Kick It was NOT one of the songs slated for 3rd style. It is the 1st release for the 12 Songs of FFRmas to be from our normal queue.

Short story tonight as I’m running a bit late.

Day 2: Horizon by Sanxion7

Posted in Song of the Week on December 14th, 200623 Comments »

Woo Hoo! Holy heck… 95 AAAs of Come With Me at the time of this writing… ALMOST 100 in 24 hours. So close. Well, I think this one will prove to be a wee bit harder. While Come With Me is a 1.5 on the Chardish scale, tonight’s song is, IMO, a 3. Horizon, by Sanxion7, has an amazing sound to it. To me, it sounds a bit middle eastern, yet more alive or festive than your stereotypical piece. We are labeling it as a Tribal Trance piece, and in an attempt to help keep Dance down, we’re putting it into Misc. You can find it in the 2nd row on the right, between Ball of Malt and Platypus. Oh yea… it’s steps flow perfectly, just like every file by my main man Jimerax.

Again… file discussion here. brags here.

Enjoy,
