So, it has been brought to my attention that we haven’t done a news post in a few days… I feel obligated to rectify that situation.

Record yourself saying something funny in 30 seconds or less and email it to me. REMOVED. THE SUBMISSIONS MUST BE ATTACHMENTS TO THE EMAIL. IF YOU SEND ME A LINK TO A HOSTING SITE, I WILL IGNORE IT. I’ll listen to them and decide which is the funniest, then make that available to all of you. Needs to be SFW.

Limit 2 submissions per user, max. Please do not flood my email with nonsense… you won’t make me happy. If you’re unsure how to record yourself… all you need is a microphone of some sort. Download audacity and use that to record yourself. Please send me the files in a compressed format (mp3, ogg, etc… no wavs please).

Let’s say the winner gets a 1 year subscription. Potential runners up if I have a hard time deciding. If you want to upload your submissions and let everyone hear them, you can do that too… post the link in the comments of this news post. Contest ends whenever I wake up tomorrow.

Happy Layout Fun Times

I think the psuedo english title above pretty much says it all. We have spent weeks if not months thinking about how to take everything we loved about the mashed up, link filled, layout breaking, new user headache causing design that we loved so much and turn it into something simple yet effective.

Not just simple but something clean, easy to understand, easy to navigate and yes this new design at some point will even be variable width for all you wide screen resolution lovers. Our old layout was approximately 1 1/2 years old and we know we have outgrown it. We outgrew it over a year ago.  While the new design will look sterile at first glance, realize that it will have more added to it and that after a couple hours you will come to appreciate how easy it is on the eyes.

There are MANY tweaks and additions we will be making over the next week. I wouldn’t take a risk to put something up on my baby (FFR) that I didn’t fully believe in. I know where this design is going and I understand the other interesting additions that will also be showing up shortly.

By all means, leave us suggestions. We have built this community by listening to the community. I never miss a news post comment and still spend hours a day going through the forum.

P.S. Never EVER buy “Egg, Cheese & Biscuit” Combos (the snack cracker things). After eating these, I wanted to kill myself.

MeTrivia. Hmmmmm..

If you have not seen our MeTrivia game in the past, you should definitely check it out. We have been pondering the possibility of integrating MeTrivia tightly with the profile system to the point where each profile could have a specific set of trivia questions that the profile user enters in. There would then be leaderboard for each seperate profile with the ability to then reflect those stats back on your very own profile.

Five Finger Death Punch – A Widget That Will Slap You In The Face!

Five Finger Death Punch are a five piece metal band consisting of previous U.P.O. guitarist, Zoltan Bathory, former W.A.S.P. guitarist, Darrell Roberts, studio Metal drummer, Jeremy Spencer, and previous MOTOGRATER vocalist, Ivan Moody. They released their first album, The Way of the Fist, in 2006 featuring the hit single, “The Bleeding,” which landed in the Top 40 rock radio charts holding its position since its release.

Since then, they have toured with the likes of Korn, Hellyeah, Flyleaf, Trivium, and Atreyu. This spring they will be kicking it into high gear supporting Disturbed on several tour dates, playing a number of festivals, and headlining their own shows as well. 3 New Songs!

Death Piano is now available in Hip-Hop. It’s the hardest public file in the game. I got over 300 misses on it my 1st run through. And that was with the avmiss fix. Song is by crazy Japanese dude Xi. Stepfile is by stargroup100. Enjoy… you all asked for hard.

M.A.M.A. is a fairly typical song by DJ Sharpnel. The stepfile, on the other hand, is a bit unique in that it lacks something fairly important. You’ll figure it out. Chart is by the one and only Corn King himself, hi19hi19. Song is located in the upper left hand corner of Dance2, page 1.

Finally, we just couldn’t wait any longer! We had to give all of you the wonderful music of Gunther. I’m sure you all are already familiar with the Ding Dong Song, but Gunther was so awesome… he recorded a special version just for FFR! Check it out in the upper left hand corner of Dance, page 1. More quick song update news stories.

So after a long day of driving and chilling with FFRers in Ann Arbor, we finally got into the hotel around 1:30am and I was able to add songs.

Big Blue is a remix of one of the levels from F-Zero….  my favorite level, as a matter of fact.  Big Blue is an awesome song, and this remix is as well.  It’s done by S.S.H.  Stepfile is by jimerax, so you know it’s  real deal.  4 Chord Touhou was originally submitted by cetaka about 6 months ago, and we really liked it, but felt it was overjacked for the current FFR.  But with avmiss fix coming soon, we felt it would be perfect for this event.  So we dusted it off and bring it to you now.  The song is the best touhou song i’ve ever heard.  It’s by Kil, so you wouldn’t expect anything less.

We had a great evening in Ann Arbor and look forward to seeing all of you in Bowling Green tomorrow!  And if you can’t be with us in person, stay with us via the live broadcast…  it will be on the front page of the site all day, complete with chatrooms and audio commentary by yours truly.

Spontaneous Contest! I mentioned WHERE MalDON and I ate last night in pro chat…. but the real question is… WHAT did I eat last night? The more specific the better. Whoever comes the closest will win a 3-month subbie. Post your guesses in the comments here. And don’t be retarded and spam the crap out of the comments with 50 or 200 guesses… I’ll ignore and/or ban you. This will end whenever I feel like ending it… probably in an hour or two. Or if someone manages to give EXACTLY what I ate, which is really hard, because I expect it to be 100% specific.

Setsujou! Hyakka Ryouran! is by MOSAIC.WAV and is stepped by Rebirth0.  Ketsarku Mozgalom is by Venetian Snares and is stepped by jimerax.  Both are in hip-hop and are really hard.  Both are pretty typical sounding songs for the artists.

Contest #1: Walrus + Bucket = Lulz

In honor of MalDON, our resident walrus, we’ll be running a walrus related contest. I’m sure you’re all familiar with the profile chat walrus and his silly bucket. For this contest, create a cartoon strip that involves the walrus and his bucket. Funniest strip wins, as determined by MalDON and myself.

Post entries and commentary in this thread. You will have until 8:30pm PST (aka 11:30pm EST or 10:30pm CST) to get submissions in. 1st place will be a 6 months subbie. Additional prizes may be given out on a merit basis.
