It’s time for FFR’s weekly update!
Two weeks’ worth of new files will be covered in this post- I didn’t write anything for last week because I forgot I wanted to make sure the tournament post got as much exposure as possible!
One important note: this is the end of weekly additions for a while, as each round of the soon-to-begin FFR Sixth Official Tournament will bring totally new, unplayed files for the contestants to enjoy… You did sign up, right?
As always, the song highlighted in all blue is a veteran’s song, available to the public in after two weeks. There was no veteran’s song released November 10th, as a skill token was released instead. More on that below:
[November 3 Released Songs]
Dr. Mario. Pt. 1 by Action Adventure World (woker-X) – Hip-Hop (Nerdcore) / Difficult / 0:41
Louder than Thunder by The Devil Wears Prada (qqwref) – Rock (Downtempo Pop) / Easy / 2:38
Tutti Frutti Summer Love by Günther & The Sunshine Girls (bmah) – Dance 2 (Tropical Eurodance) / Challenging / 2:39
Bogey at your Six by Virt (kommisar) – Secret [33,000 credits] (8-bit) / For Masters Only / 3:29
[November 10 Released Songs]
Ding Dong Song [Light] by Günther & The Sunshine Girls (DossarLX_ODI) – Secret [100 credits] (Eurodance) / Standard / 2:05
Another Day by Modulation Spin (bmah) – Dance (Handz Up) / Standard / 2:33
Luna Ascension by flashygoodness (Reshiram) – Arcade (Melodic Chiptune) / Very Difficult / 0:48
Immigraniada by Gogol Bordello (t-rogdor & Detrimentalist) – Rock (Gypsy Punkstep) / Challenging / 2:22
The Veterans songs from two weeks ago are now publicly available:
No Purpose Flour by SessileNomad (iironiic) – Dance 2 (Drum’n Bass) / For Masters Only / 2:50
Prism by DJ Kuhu (Xayphon) – Classical (Piano Solo) / Very Challenging / 1:29
In addition to all of these new songs, there’s also been a skill token added!
(this is a a temporary token graphic, will be updated.)

Compared to many of FFR’s skill tokens this one is not particularly hard to unlock, and the reward is excellent:
[November 10 Released Skill Token]
Ding Dong Song [Standard] by Günther & The Sunshine Girls (bmah) – Skill Token (Eurodance) / Very Difficult / 2:05
Requirement: Pass Ding Dong Song [Light] with 10 or less misses and 10 or less boos.
The Standard version adds some tricky trills, jumps, hands, and a nasty surprise roll at the end for those looking for a definite step up in difficulty from the Light chart. At the moment this skill token image is a bit ordinary, but perhaps an enterprising FFRtist will contribute a nicer looking image… maybe that person is you?
If you are looking to give us some feedback on these new additions, you can find the thread for the November 3rd additions here and the thread for the November 10th additions here.
As a final bit of news, the chart for the old standby song Burnout has been moved to the Legacy genre.
In addition to all of these song additions, there’s some other fantastic news to share!
The sign-ups for the Official Tournament have reach over 500. And to go with all that competition, some exciting new prizes have been added to the prize pool:
Longtime FFR user zajac, from Low Pass Records, has decided to donate free downloads of the LPR001 LP to the top 5 in each division! You can check out the specifics of this awesome deal in this post.
If you’d like to give a big thank you for this prize donation, go and like them on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/LowPassRecords
And, in case you missed it, the tournament has received a sexy facelift in the form of a new animated banner from Darkshark!
Here it is again- and clicking it will link you to the official thread, just in case you STILL haven’t signed up… you know you want to!
A note about this post itself: your suggestions have not gone unnoticed! I added links to each artist and simfile author, and learned how to add some pictures too. It’s starting to just look like a mess of hyperlinks at this point, but I guess that’s what people wanted.
In the interest of keeping this double update slightly shorter I chose not to write about each of the new songs/files individually, but I may do that in the future. Though this post took me over three hours to write even without any of that, so no promises.
Overall this is quite a big newspost, because there’s lots of news! So many things happening here at FFR these days.
That’s it for this update. Enjoy your arrow smashing!

FFR Sixth Official Tournament: Sign-ups open now!
In the fourth official, it was Shashakiro, dood gone krazee, suika510, DarknessXoXLight, and E_skittles who took home the illustrious title of Official FFR Tournament winner.
In the fifth official tournament – we crowned five new champions. Through all of the chaos, drama, sandbagging, cheating, and insanity, MrRubix, TC_Chronichild420, Go_Oilers_Go, bLasTamos, and marthalolz fought for ten hard rounds to deem themselves worthy of that same title one year later.
After a horrifying site disappearance, a return, and a valiant effort to restore FFR to the former glory it once had, we are proud to present to you something that hasn’t happened in two long years.
That’s right — all of you competition hungry keysmashers have the opportunity to prove your worth against all of your friends, rivals, and sworn enemies for something that really counts.
For those of you who have been through this process before, you might think you know the drill. But before you jump with joy and do a barrel roll, visit the official tournament thread for details about prizes, divisions, and other rules, as the tournament structure and guidelines have changed a little bit from the previous official tournaments. The image posted just above will link to the tournament thread as well.
Brace yourselves! It’s going to be an intense few months!

Merry….Halloween?!
Christm…err, Halloween is here, and it has invoked that tradition of trick-or-treating! Today for once, instead of a bunch of tricks, you guys get a treat that many have been waiting a while for. That’s right, you guys wanted it, Velocity worked hard (well, somewhat) to produce it!
FFR Multiplayer for the Velocity Engine has finally arrived! You can find the engine at this link (this is also the standalone link, for those of you who run the standalones). We encourage you to check it out if you typically use Velocity’s (the Beta) engine!
On a related note, however, we wanted to inform you of a quirk in the system that is as of yet unresolved. The multiplayer code has been changed a lot from how it was written in the Legacy engine, so currently there is no compatability between the two Multiplayers. If you play in Velocity’s MP, you cannot compete against someone in the Legacy MP. Velocity is working on getting this sorted out at some point, but has yet to complete the task.
Since the code is new and things have changed, there is likely going to be plenty of bugs and errors to keep Velocity busy fixing his MP. If you notice something that needs fixing, feel free to post it in this thread and let us know.
On an unrelated note, our fifth official photo scavenger hunt has ended.

Congrats to our winners!
1st Place – demonllama6124
2nd Place – Hateandhatred
3rd Place – catzeye21138
Happy FFR’ing, and Happy Halloween!

Songs Of The Week (October 27th, 2011)
Another week, another set of songs released. The staff here at FFR is nothing if not consistent!
As is usual, there are four songs released this week, with the veteran’s song (in blue) to be available to everyone in two weeks.
[October 27 Released Songs]
Love, The Elephant by Starship Amazing (MarioNintendo) – Dance (Techno Pop) / Standard / 2:08

what the f is this by Zaghurim (0) – Funk (Experimental) / Challenging / 1:00
Prism by DJ Kuhu (Xayphon) – Classical (Piano Solo) / Very Challenging / 1:29
The veteran’s song from two weeks ago, mutant corecore, is now publicly available. Despite its short length the file is quite a challenge- make sure to give it a run if you’re looking for something new and difficult!
mutant corecore by Padlock (DossarLX ODI & t-rogdor) – Purchased (Noisy) [1,500 credits] / For Masters Only / 0:42
The discussion thread for these new releases can be found here.
In this week’s other updates, there’s been a new subforum opened- the "Bits and Bytes" section is dedicated to the realm of programming and game development discussion. If you need help with your coding work, want to discuss a new programming language you’re trying to pick up, or possibly just chime in on the ongoing discussion of Project Euler, be sure to check it out!
Additionally, remember that The Week of Trick or Treat is ending soon! Be sure to send in those last few images you’ve found.
As a final thought, I’d like to ask what YOU want in these front page posts. Leave a comment if there’s something you’d like to see more of- one thing that’s mentioned is for me to give more detailed notes about the new songs and artists. Let me know if that’s something you would enjoy seeing, as well as any other suggestions you might have.
That’s it for this update. Enjoy your arrow smashing!

New Site Event: A Week of Trick or Treat!
October has brought many great things to FFR, like the squashing of bugs on our beloved game engines, the return of SpinItUp, the improvement of Multiplayer, the Photo Hunt, and of course, a ton of user-made tournaments to keep the community on their toes. Today however, resident forum moderator psychoangel691 and our “fix-it-all” administrator Velocity have collaborated on something completely new, for the sake (and fun!) of Halloween.
How many of you forgot all of the great things that a memorable Halloween entailed? Some people are into egg bombing (as am I, and SHAME on you for enjoying it! :p), others are into the candy hunting, and others will just dress up in the spirit of All Hallows’ Eve. Here at FFR, we tend to do things slightly different than the norm, though. For this event, you’ll be doing a scavenger hunt. I’m not going to get into everything on this front post, as it is not an event of my creation. However, you can take a look at all of the details of this event by clicking the image above! Or, if you’re too lazy to shift your mouse a few pixels, you can check it out here.

Songs Of The Week (October 20th, 2011)
Another week here at FFR means another set of new songs for everyone to enjoy.
There are four songs this week, with the veteran’s song listed in blue. Check out this week’s new releases:

Clash on the Big Bridge by The Black Mages (hi19hi19) – Rock (Instrumental VG Rock) / Standard / 3:58
Keep It Short by Beatdrop (bmah) – Hip-Hop (Techno) / Very Difficult / 2:02
No Purpose Flour by SessileNomad (iironiic) – Dance 2 (Drum’n Bass) / For Masters Only / 2:50
The veteran’s song from two weeks ago has been released to the public as well. Don’t forget to give it a try if you haven’t had the chance yet!
Beware the Purple Water (TC_Halogen) – Arcade (Game Remix) / For Masters Only / 3:24
We appreciate your feedback on these songs. Visit this thread and tell us what you think!
In addition to the new songs, there have been numerous other changes here at FFR over the past week.
Some of the biggest changes have related to FFR’s multiplayer. Specifically, multiplayer now uses raw score! Gone are the days where getting one miss in multiplayer spells instant defeat- things should be a lot more competitive now.
If that announcement gets you excited about jumping into multiplayer, why not see where you stack up against the rest of the MP community first? Check out the new multiplayer stats page here and see how you compare. This page can be accessed any time you like by following the link in the Daily Stats page.
As always, there have been numerous minor bug fixes too. These include the squashing of a credit transfer bug and minor issues with score reporting on the Velocity engine.
Looking for a way to help the FFR community grow even more? Are you fluent in a language other than English? If you are, check out this thread for your opportunity to help translate FFR into other languages!
That’s it for this update. Enjoy your arrow smashing!

The veteran’s song from two weeks ago, Papyrus’s Adventure, has been released to the public as well. Make sure to give it a try if you haven’t yet had the chance!
If you have any feedback about these songs and files we’d love to hear it! Here’s the thread in which you should voice your opinion.
In other interesting news, there has recently been a minor bug fix. The dreaded “miss glitch” that occasionally reared its head on FFR’s more difficult files has finally been squashed! Major thanks to our resident admin and coder Velocity for fixing this issue once and for all. You can check here if you’re curious about the details.
For the enterprising simfile artists out there, it’s never too late to start helping make your mark on the game. The Hard Songs Batch closes in a few days, so here’s your reminder to get those files sent in! If you’re interested in trying to get your own file into FFR be sure to check out the Songs/Permissions Subforum for some tips on getting started.
That’s it for this update. Enjoy your arrow smashing!

One Year Anniversary
FFR went down in December 20, 2009 and was revived in October 9, 2010. So.. It has been exactly a year since FFR’s Revival ! Also we need to note that it’s almost 9 years since FFR’s birth (Oct, 2002).
The site is in the process of recovery and development now.
We have 2 special songs as celebratory releases today..
A quite easy song and a relatively difficult song.
Crash Up Against The Inevitable (Xayphon) – Dance 2 (IDM Breakcore) / For Masters Only / 3:23
Hana Yuduki (jimerax) – Hip-Hop (Ambient J-Pop) / For Beginners / 1:52
On another note, Spin It Up game is updated a bit recently, so check it out here!
p.s. A new and improved FFR Chat will be finding its way to the public eye in the very near future. (Certain features might require a camera and microphone…)
Cheers,
JX
