Happy Thanksgiving! A new song & A song about Thanksgiving

Posted in FFR News, Flash Flash Revolution, Simfiles on November 27th, 200833 Comments »

I don’t feel poetic today, so I’ll save my usual diatribies about holidays or events and just get down to the fun stuff.  I added 300 This Is Sparta EXTENDED Mix to the game today, as a special holiday public release…  because I know nobody can get enough of 300 meme mixes, so I had to give you all the EXTENDED goodness.  Song is put together by Funtastic Power! and is stepped by hi19hi19.  Borderline between a 6 and a 7; let me know your thoughts, please.  You can find it on page 1 of Misc (for now).

Also, I whipped together a video for my favorite Thansgiving song because I couldn’t find it anywhere on YouTube already.  Check out the video (trust me, you’ll like it!) on my profile, in my most recent random thought.

The Games We Played Sheet Music

Posted in FFR News, Flash Flash Revolution on November 25th, 200833 Comments »

Undoubtedly everyone has played The Games We Played in the Arcade section right?  Well just to let you know this 2-year-old masterpiece by Torley Wong finally has sheet music!

For those of you who don’t know what sheet music is, this doesn’t bother you.  Go back to whoring whatever it is that you were whoring.  But for those who want to get their greedy paws on it right now, you can find it right here. Have fun trying to learn this 17-minute conglomerate of video game song awesomeness!

Tass note: Sheet music is the notes that are played in the song written in musical notation.  If you want to play TGWP on the piano, you’d use the sheet music that Jon & crew made.  There is also a discussion thread for TGWP Sheet Music!

Double Special KgZ Happy Fun Time!

Let’s start off with a nice little happy 16th birthday to in-house artist KgZ.

As such, I went ahead an added a new KgZ song to FFR for today’s subbie song.  That song is Memories.  Stepfile is by Sprite-, all of our favoritest mod to come back from the grave EVAR.  It’s his first stepfile in game.  I thought both guys would appreciate something for them.  You can find it in funk.  Very melodic song.

After I added Memories, I realized that today’s public song is ALSO a KgZ song.  How crazy is that?  Anyway, today’s song is Procrastination on a Paper.  You can have it for 4500 in Purchased.  It’s a pretty snazzy jazz piece, and only 8 AAAs on it despite a 9 difficulty…  so it’s a challenge.  File by Silvuh.

Enjoy!

And oh yeah…  thanks to all of you guys for getting us to 1.6 million registered users!

So, many of you have pointed out a connection issue in MP over the past few days.  That should now be resolved.  Now more than 20 people can get into MP at one time.  Yay!

PS – Be on the lookout for a spontaneous contest in the next…  36 hours.

Not A Falsie Report

Just wanted to give you guys a quick heads up that Falsie the Pseudo-Science girl was made public earlier today.  It is an 80s akiba pop song by our favorite j-pop artist, MOSAIC.WAV.  Stepfile is by world renowned simfiler, behanjc.  It’s a little over 2 minutes long and is a 9 in difficulty.  It’s yours for 4500 credits from the shop.

Note on Yahoo! Email Accounts

Posted in FFR News, Flash Flash Revolution on November 2nd, 200844 Comments »

We’ve been having issues with Yahoo email accounts recently…  nothing we send (email verifications, password resets, etc) has been going through to Yahoo; not even into Spam.  We’re working on fixing this, but I figured I’d let everyone know that if you’re having a problem and have Yahoo, this is why.

Happy Mo-Fo’in Birthday dore and blu!

Posted in FFR News, Game Announcements, Simfiles on October 29th, 200841 Comments »

Bluguerrilla & his beardSo, I just had to do something for the birthdays of 2 of my favorite stepfilers, dore and bluguerrilla.  Dore’s 18th birthday was yesterday, but unfortunately I had hours and hours of delays with my flight getting out of Philly and back to LA…  so I wasn’t able to do anything until today.  Blu’s 26th birthday is today…  reaffirming him as our resident elder.  I look forward to the day I can finally call him Dr. blu.

Anyway, in honor of their birthdays, I have released a new purchased song from each of them…  and given both to each of them free, as a gift.  Document 13b is a mid-FMO DnB song by our own DJ Nubbin.  It’s got a ton of tricky jacks and a few 32nd bursts that will make PAing difficult.  6000 credits in the Shop, and it’s yours.  Empornium is our second ever Parental Advisory song, so be warned.  The lyrics are VERY dirty and VERY funny…  you may have trouble AAAing because you’ll be laughing too hard.  Difficulty is a 6, with slow bpm 16ths throughout and 32nd triplets scattered in the chorus.  Song is by nerdcorers extrodinaire, Futuristic Sex Robotz.  This song will set you back 3069 credits… enjoy.

So, make sure to drop dore and blu a comment on their walls or in their respective Chit-Chat birthday threads!

Forum Upgrades

I’m sure many of you guys noticed that the forum is down, and possibly one or two other small misalignments around the site.  Fear not, we’re hard at work doing some maitanence and upgrades around the forum and the site.  Hopefully will all be finished and back to normal by the time everyone is up for school tomorrow.

edit: everything should be back up now.

Creating a New World Through KARMA

Hello FFR’ers! (try saying that 10 times fast heh heh)

Today we have a very special treat for all of you.  A rare and wonderful treat.

Stephen Kay, president of Karma-Lab and the developer of the music technology known as KARMA, has given his permission for us to use one of his songs as this week’s featured stepfile.  This isn’t any ordinary permission.  Stephen has been featured in many magazines and websites such as Electronic Musician, Keyboard Magazine, Sound on Sound, and IT-Review.net for his incredible line of electronic keyboards and software incorporating KARMA, as well as his career as a musician and composer.  His works have appeared as themes for world-wide NBC sports programs such as Wimbledon and the French Open, and he’s played in just about every kind of music group you can name: rock bands, jazz fusion bands, show bands, etc.  His music is truly wacky and colorful, a bright twist to most music you may have listened to.  Here is a link to the media player on his site, loaded with some of product demo works.

For more information about Stephen Kay, check out his biography.

Now to the featured file:
Today’s featured file is called ==Planet KARMA==.  Some of you might know it from ODIpack2.  It’s one of Stephen Kay’s multi-part epics, featuring 5 movements, each with a completely different style and mood.  Most of the file is similar to the one in ODIpack2, but there are some striking differences, especially in the 2nd movement.  The difficulty varies throughout the song, anywhere from a 4 to a 12. The entire song is just under 6 and a half minutes long, so it’s sure to test your endurance throughout! Stepped by yours truly.  You can find it in Secret; it’ll only take 100,000 credits to access.  Enjoy this epic release!
