HNJ, I really don't see why it even MATTERS to you guns that noone ever uses but the military are banned....

you said it yourself, noone ever uses them. so logically, noone will miss them.

A gun has never technically killed anyone, people die from massive bleeding and 'important pieces' being missing it isn't the piece of metal thats the problem... I'll probably get attacked for this (I'm half-joking), but if you think about it it's true!

Well, if you get pistol whipped to death......=P

War is inevitable in the world. Banning guns is merely a possible solution for domestic strife. It's irrational to believe that some sort of worldwide weapons ban would successfully occur sometime soon. The world is made up of many governing bodies, all (or most of all, at least) too stubborn to want to be told what to do by anyone. After all, while citizens of a state must be told what to do to prevent chaos, states on the whole resent being told what to do, as they can decide for themselves, in whatever way their govermental system requires them to.

Because submissively obeying some sort of world order command could be perceived as weakness to the enemies of any given nation, any given nation will stubbornly stand its own ground. The refusal to give up sovereingty, when coupled with the fear of the constant possibility of invasion will lead to war. Imagine if during the Cold War the United States sent out the air force to force the Soviets to pull their support from Lebanon in the conflict against Israel. Imagine if the Soviets decided this was a bluff and sent troops to the Lebanon bases. Imagine if, afraid of invasion, Israel nuked these very bases in a preemptive strike and the United States is now force to ally behind Israel. World War III.

The point is, talking about guns and wars at this point is COMPLETELY irrelevant. Wars existed before guns, and they are existing afterward. Guns are now no more than simple tools. While I support bans on many guns in the domestic marketplace, restricting the market on the whole is folly.
