Sail AwaY To A Chinaman – #62 and #63
Chinaman is another completely unique song by Torley Wong, in a way that only Torley can do songwriting. Stepfile is by our resident unique music guy, pokelda. I rated it a 7 for its 1 unique roll section that is a bit difficult, probably a 6 for the rest of the file. Almost 3 minutes long too. Fairly easy req too, just get a 700+ combo on the song Prototypical, found in Misc.
Sail AwaY is an interesting story, as are so many of our simfiles. First, it’s by resident in-house musician Draigun. You can listen to his music here. What makes this interesting is that we’ve received more submissions on this song than any other. By a large margin. In one testing batch we had SEVEN submissions for this song… not to mention a few submissions for it in other batches. Basically, this means you will not find a better stepfile for this song, period. We’ve been through about 10 of them total, and this one rose to the top. It’s by hi19hi19 and it beat out files by Rebirth0, jimerax, macgravel, and more. To unlock this song, you need Full Combos on 3 fairly similar 8th note stream songs from 3+ years ago. FC Secret Zombie Room (Secret), Massive (Dance1), and Breaking the Common (Dance1) in a row to unlock Sail AwaY.

Wow, the first 2 skill tokens that I gotten in one day. That how skill tokens should be. Oh yeah, I think pokeida file on Sail AwaY was pretty good, even though I FC’ed already.

I was actually able to get both of these tokens. Usually I get none or one if I’m lucky. The unlock for Chinaman using Prototypical seemed like appropriate difficulty for the level. But using three difficulty 5 songs to unlock a difficulty 9 song didn’t seem as good of a match to me. I was able to unlock Sail AwaY without much trouble, but the song’s too hard for me to play well. I guess there’s some reason for this, but it wasn’t what I was expecting.
