New Gamewhore Competition! This Saturday
So Whorli has left for Israel for a month, leaving me all alone until I go back to Philly in a few weeks. That means I’m going to be bored this weekend, and I need you guys to entertain me. I came up with this idea about a month ago, and ran it by a few people… everyone loved it.
This competition will be different from the last one. This one will not focus on the most points you can earn in 24 hours. It will focus on how low of an average rank you can get in 24 hours, starting from a fresh account.
The rules:
-It will run from 12:01am CST Saturday until 11:59pm CST Saturday, August 2nd.
-Your username for the competition will be in the format: “GWC_YourUsername”, where YourUsername is your username. Aka, mine would be GWC_Tasselfoot. Please do not use abbreviations, as it will only confuse me and make my life harder.
-You are not allowed to transfer credits to your GWC account… all secret/purchased songs will have to be played via credits you earn during the 24 hours. That makes it equally fair to everyone, and makes the competition have a bit more strategy.
-Whoever has the lowest average rank at the end of 24 hours will win.
-All GWC accounts will be blacklisted at the end of the 24 hours, so we don’t spam up the highscore lists from the competition.
Prizes:
FIRST PLACE IS GUARANTEED VROFL + a year subscription + a t-shirt + $20 + 50,000 credits
2nd place will be a year subscription and 40,000 credits
3rd place will be a 6 month subbie and 25k credits
4th place == 3 month subbie and 15k credits
5th place… 1 month subbie and 5k credits
As a note, a fresh account has an average a bit over 50,000 (about 50,670 right now). I’m expecting the winner to have an average rank under 150 by the time this is over. Which will be amazing and insane and I will personally call you crazy, but in a good way.
I’m looking forward to this, and I hope all of you guys are too.

Tass, Why must you always schedule these things when I have stuff to do… Can you please do the next one in the middle of the week on like a Wednesday or something equally obscure? Like the last one, I’ll probably try this one a few days early, but I know that I won’t come close. I have too much trouble AAA songs to do well on this. Whatever, I like the idea for this gamewhore. Can the next one be best perf-great ratio? I could do better on that one.

honestly… the not-as-skilled users have as much of a chance in this as they did in the other one. it’s just more obvious in this one. take a look at the users who were top 5 in the last one: izzy, xuiox, tera, adamaja, stolesanta. 4/5 of those are top100 in average rank, AAAs, TPs, etc. it took not only playing for 20+ hours, it took playing WELL for 20+ hours.

you can make the accounts whenever you want… but i’ll be re-setting the credits on the accounts to 0 and the scores on the accounts to 0 right before this starts. just in case anyone was thinking about cheating by playing on the accounts ahead of time. tisk tisk.

Yeah, if you think about it, the ranks on the harder songs won’t matter as much as the easy songs. I’m pretty sure if, for example, I could AAA lots of masters songs, but couldn’t AAA synth songs I’d do worse than someone who could do the opposite. Noobs have more chances than they think.

1440 minutes in 24 hours
1440 / 570 = 2.5 minutes a song, seems right..
ill just play from the level rank list
from the highest to lowest skipping any song above 3 minutes to come back to it later and maybe play songs without even passing them just play half way or 80%
either way its mostly time consuming you will have have no choice but play for over 20 hours for sure
maybe people will give up and you could win by playing less hours..

I dont see how secret and purchased songs are even important. The higher you get into the secret songs the lower the 0 rank will already be.

Eh, I’m not even gonna try this. If you expect the top finishers to be around 150 av rank, I don’t stand a chance. My av rank as it stands right now is like 1.1k. And that’s after 4 years…

i think that a lot of people are over estimating how long or hard it takes to lower average rank. i didn’t even understand it till a while ago, and when i figured it out i managed to go from like 40k to 2.5 k in about a day.

If I was able to compete, I’d probably won’t even be able to get into the top 100, if not top 1000 (if there will be that many people in this competition.
If not, top 300-400. (That’s my guess as to how many people will be in this competition: at least 300.)

I’m definitely in. I mean my AVG rank right now is 1400 and thats with alot of songs not fced… so i think i can get well below 150 even without AAA’s cause i only have about 14 AAA’s and yet my avg rank is 1400 so yea i think i have a chance.
