December Spin Celebration Part 2: Turn it Down a Notch
While I might be a little slow at most times, I do look at all of the criticisms of the game and take them to heart. Thus, this week we are looking at aiding those users who find Spin It Up too hard to play. Starting today, you’ll find a beefy selection of songs rated from difficulties 1 through 3, new practice and introduction levels, a revised difficulty scale and much, much more.
If you find yourself having difficulty playing the game, I advise starting with the brand new “Welcome to Spin It Up” and Spin It Up practice tutorials located in difficulty level 1. Welcome to Spin It Up is narrated and created by the Spin It Up approved artist /DJS\ and introduces the basics of the game to first-time players. /DJS\ has also spun a short house track that accompanies four practice levels, each focusing on a major type of pattern found in the game:
Spin It Up Wave Practice (Tutorial): A general practice of waves repeating in 4/4 time to assist players in nailing the basic fundamentals of wave catching.
Spin It Up Cross Practice (Tutorial): Removes the measures of rest from the wave practice to allow players to practice quickly switching from one adjacent wave direction to the next.
Spin It Up Spin Practice (Tutorial): Produces strings of adjacent waves in circular patterns to practice the signature Spin It Up spinning patterns.
Spin It Up Flip Practice (Tutorial): Produces waves in patterns that are parallel to each for practicing Spin It Up’s hardest patterns – flips.
All tutorials begin with waves in the upper left quadrant to get you situated. Once you get through the basics or if you don’t need the practice, you can dive into our new beginner songs created specifically for this week:
Altar of Darkness by Reone662 – Level 1 by SulferDragon
AM-3P (Sanxion7′s House Dub Mix) by Sanxion7 – Level 1 by MixMasterLar
Ninja by Beatmouse – Level 1 by MixMasterLar
Warp Zone by EMB – Level 1 by MixMasterLar
Mega Man III Title Theme by C. Stewart – Level 1 by nestlekwik
Heaven’s Getting Closer by Beatmouse – Level 1 by MixMasterLar
Gaea’s Thunder by wickedawesomeful – Level 2 by SulferDragon
Halcyon by SuperGreenX – Level 3 by Arcsynth
Lover, Just Drive by SleeplessDragn feat. “>/DJS\ – Level 3 by MixMasterLar
With the additions, we are now 100+ songs! You can’t see it, but I’m patting myself on the back right now. Feel free to follow suit on this accomplishment. Also, /DJS\ makes a few more appearances today, lending a great hand to the tutorials, but with his first FFR appearance, he now has a widget made available to him. Be sure to check out the /DJS\ widget in our extensive Flash Flash Revolution/Spin It Up embeddable widgets listing.
To further aid beginners and to lessen the annoyment of our regular players, through two days worth of game play between myself and MixMasterLar, we have completely re-done the difficulty listing for the entire game, better dividing the file types between the 8 different difficulties. You can find the full list of retooled difficulties at the dedicated thread in the Spin It Up forum. This should ease the game play progress for beginning players as there are no longer level 3 files in the level 1 category and any other instances of much harder files located where they do not belong. The Spin It Up forum is now also host to a thread of game play tips should you need an extra boost of knowledge and encouragement.
Also now on our forums is an open invitation to Spin It Up players to receive player profile stats on a per-request basis. The forum is now host to the top 10 scores for every Spin It Up song as of the time it was played on Tuesday, Dec. 11. If your username appears on the top 10 at least once, you will qualify to request profile stats. Just make the request on the appropriate Personal Spin It Up Rankings thread and I will manually create the statistics with a spreadsheet I created. This is temporary, of course, until we can make the database do all the dirty work for us, but through user request, I have created a solution for the time being to provide our dedicated players with something more.
Also for our more dedicated players, we’ll have a sneak peak of certain future song additions that will be popping in and out of the game throughout the week. Check back frequently to see what songs have been temporarily added. MixMasterLar and myself will be in multiplayer a lot more often this week, so stop in and ask about the LTO songs and enjoy some Spin It Up with us.
With two weeks down, there is still two more special Spin It Up days left in December. I hope you have been enjoying the additions thus far as we continue tweaking the game and making it even better. As always, feedback is always appreciated, which you can do in the Spin It Up forum.

Who even plays SiU?

I’ve accidentally played SiU for the first time in 1 year (by trying to go back to check more about SiU, I played a song instead) And I’ve seen major improvement to the game that I was shocked. It is really cool. It’s just too bad that no one can see what it is now.

You should probably put the tutorial levels in its own category.
