Song of the week: Time for some rag!
Posted in Song of the Week on July 31st, 2006
This week’s Song of the Week takes us back in time, to 1899. Composed by Scott Joplin, Maple Leaf Rag is an upbeat song that would be classified as Ragtime, a pre-cursor to Jazz, but also a modern Classical of sorts. Performed by Benjamin Robert Tubb (stepfile by Jimerax), of www.pdmusic.org, this classic will be much easier than EHHS or Pants, but hopefully still a challenge for everyone. MLR will be the first addition to the Classic page in years. So go check it out now, and also check out pdmusic.org for all of your pre-1923 American favorites.
Cheers,
FFR Staff and The Sting

I like this song! The only thing is it’s not Tricky, but Challenging. I didn’t do very well >.

Wow, a classical that makes sense! Not a jump out of place, and at just the right pace. Not too easy, not too hard. I like it. Full combo-ed first try with 10 goods. I’ll get back to whoring it so I stay on the highscore list a little longer.

Good stepfile and its not a DANCE song thank you. Please keep up the NON-DANCE side of FFR because not everyone likes the dance music. Good Job, Keep It up!

Monkey, Pants is a song by DJ Sharpnel, like EHHS. Maybe that’s hinting towards something

Finally a Classical song most of us can do besides the Rondo Alla Turcas. My only gripe is that it’s a little too long…but overall good job and great stepfile.

I love scott joplin.

My favourite Joplin rag! The Entertainer’s very overrated. So I definately heart this new song. Who knows, might help me learn it for piano!

I think you need to fix the link for the rag highscores in the side. It still links to EHHS. Just telling ya.
