Build a Bridge:

There’s a common saying that goes:
Cry yourself a river, build a bridge and get over it.
But sometimes you can’t finish the bridge,
Causing you to not be able to cross over it.
You hold onto the past tightly and can’t seem to move on.
You can’t let go and don’t want to leave it.
As time passes you have people who stop and try to help you.
You accept their help but as they start to add three bricks to the bridge,
You take off one brick, afraid of what’s on the other side.
Eventually the person can get frustrated and leave your side.
They leave build their own bridge to get by your river,
Because they felt you weren't going anywhere.
More time passes and you seem to feel like reaching the end will never happen.
And as the time passes, the more people come and go.
People can only take so much before they feel like you’re just going to hold them back.
They have lives of their own, so having them help you is them taking their own time.
Time is precious and shouldn't be taken for granted.
The more you spend time here, the far behind you get.
Eventually you’ll get tired and want to move forward.
You’ll get the motivation and start to build your bridge.
Not looking back, just kept going and going.
All the way until you've reached the other side of the river.
And once you reach the other side…
You look up and see there are move rivers to cross.
Because life comes with many obstacles
And the only person you can depend on is yourself.
Otherwise you’ll just fall behind again.
And as you look past the rivers,
You see the people who tried to help you far ahead in life.
You see them successful, but yet you are far from where they are.
Don’t give up, because you can get there as long as you work as hard as they did.
If not try harder and build your bridges faster.
We all have our problems, and sometimes we have a hard time moving past them.
But the more often you move forward, the stronger you get to build each bridge.
If you see someone struggling, its okay to stop and help.
Don’t stay too long because you will just fall more behind.
Just remember those who came to help you eventually left for their own sake.
Unfortunately, you have to do the same thing to let them learn on their own just like you did.
And sometimes you find that person who will be there to help you, always.
But that is rare to find in this life.
That one person you know is there for you,
But until then...you have to mainly depend on yourself.
