1 Million Plays!!! Posted on: February 15, 2009, at 02:24:57pm So, not only is today my birthday... but my YouTube channel reached 1 million plays. 137 videos... 1 million total plays. 145,000+ of which from Super Stacker 2. 27 over 10k, 41 over 5k, 94 over 1000. Not too shabby. Did half a million plays in the past month... so I guess the goal is to reach 2 million before tax day. Been doing 20-25k plays a day recently. already up to 1,012,000. wheee. at 20,000 per day, i'll hit 2 million in 50 days. that's a bit under 2 months. the thing is, the vids are heavily hit or miss. 1 50k vid is worth more than 10 vids that all fail and get 1-2k views... and there really is just no way to fully predict what will be watched a lot and what won't. clearly sequels of popular games, games by well known devs/studios, and games that get badged on Kongregate tend to boost views heavily... but how does anyone explain 65k views on Stone Age Sam 2?!? That one perplexes me greatly. 140k+ for Super Stacker 2 is mindblowing as well... 50k i get, i guess. but 140k plus 7.5k+ each for 2 speedrun vids? Plus, as i make more vids, i get more subbies and even vids for crappy games start getting more and more plays. plus older vids still get views. it's pretty tough to decline heavily in daily views... i suspect the worst day i'll have will be 15k or so. the goal is to get at least 1 really popular vid out a wee

interestingly, kong is far from my main source of publicity... freegamesnews.com is probably #1, with fncgamesblog.com #2, and i-share-somethingorother.blogspot.com or kong is #3. few other sites use my views consistently too... games-walkthroughs.com, etc.
but even with all those views from embeds on other sites, main source, by far, is just people searching on YT or google. so props to my ability to use tags well.

not that 1 million pages isnt bad for your side hobby, but its just something you would put on your profile blog or something, not on the front page of subscribers.
actually, you can put it on the front page just update news more frequently with ffr song announcements and crap
