Update To Unofficial Tournaments Posted on: April 28, 2008, at 12:54:46pm Sprite and I have spent some time discussing ways to prevent tournaments from being made that start and go nowhere, often getting large donations from other users as well. tl;dr version of the changes: -To run a tournament: ---100+ posts ---2+ months as a member ---5000+ credits as a minimum prize -If prizes > credits (cash, schwag, etc), prizes must be put into escrow before the start of the tournament -If A donated to B's tournament, and B does not complete the tournament, A can get his credits back -New Tournaments will now need mod approval to start (Sprite) There are a few other minor things, so check out the sticky in the Tournaments subforum. All of this is to make sure t hat the only tournaments being run are successful ones that will actually finish. -Tass |

Posted at 1:16pm on April 28th, 2008
This is a good idea, should've happened a long while ago. :D
Posted at 1:17pm on April 28th, 2008

Posted at 1:24pm on April 28th, 2008

Posted at 1:42pm on April 28th, 2008
This change is probably partially if not a significant amount, my fault. Rofl... :(
Posted at 2:08pm on April 28th, 2008
Awesome! I also noticed you guys finally colour-coded subbie threads. Good work!
Posted at 2:27pm on April 28th, 2008
Does this apply to recently started tournaments?
Posted at 2:33pm on April 28th, 2008

Marvelous.
Posted at 2:43pm on April 28th, 2008
i think that's a really good idea, there were way too many rip off's and pointless tourny's
But side note
whens the next Official FFR Tournament?
Posted at 2:51pm on April 28th, 2008
sweet.
Posted at 3:58pm on April 28th, 2008
Could you answer post 13? Also, I like this idea.

*Insert positive interjection that hasn't already been used*
Got some nice rules going on, here. Anti-Tyler rules, haha.

Posted at 4:46pm on April 28th, 2008
Yeah it's gonna be funny when all the noobies make tournaments without permission and end up getting locked.
;D
Posted at 4:56pm on April 28th, 2008
Good stuff, good stuff, good stuff!
Posted at 4:56pm on April 28th, 2008
this really needed to be done! ty
Posted at 5:03pm on April 28th, 2008
they won't even get locked.... you'll never even see them. every thread made in the forum will have to go through moderator approval before appearing.
and about the official: this summer.
Posted at 5:28pm on April 28th, 2008
I'm liking this idea. :) I've been in quite a few crappy tournaments, some which never even get STARTED.
Ohaitass. :P
Posted at 5:44pm on April 28th, 2008
this is a great idea. Its sad to see someone attempt to start a tourny and put no thought into it at all. great addition guys
Posted at 6:26pm on April 28th, 2008
This thing had to be done i'm proud of you guys. Thx.
Posted at 6:29pm on April 28th, 2008
That was a fast fix. XD

Finally, one of my idea's gets implemented within 2 hours of the suggestion xD
Posted at 1:51am on April 29th, 2008
Unofficial tournaments should get prioritized/whored based on total pot, or something. The tournament I tried ended up being over 120k credits, but only a handful of entries.
Posted at 2:09am on April 29th, 2008
It's still up to the host to put a product out on display that attracts enough participants and keeps them through the duration of the event. I've seen a few tournaments where everything is done correctly by the host (for the most part), yet the participants still just die off, which kills the tournament. That is not the fault of the tournament runner.
Also... what about some sort of policy / tracking in terms of users who start tournaments and don't finish them when it is their fault that the tournament doesn't finish?
Posted at 3:00am on April 29th, 2008
I never notice new news posts anymore since the subscriber news came up. lol
Posted at 6:47am on April 29th, 2008
I think that's a good idea, Tass. Maybe just a page where certain members can leave feedback for tournament runners. It's too early in the morning for me to think of the details, but I can discuss this with you later if you want. It sounds like something that would prove to be very useful.
Posted at 11:15am on April 29th, 2008
You guys really should open the thread up instead of locking it so we can give more feedback beofre you set the rules completely.
Posted at 11:29am on April 29th, 2008
Those are the rules. No feedback necessary. They're set completely.
Posted at 12:03pm on April 29th, 2008
+infinity support on this one
Posted at 3:09pm on April 29th, 2008
Tass, you can even put "T" icons next to the threads on the main page, if it's a tournament I mean.
haha, such as the subscriber threads being blue.
Aah, just a suggestion.
Posted at 3:29pm on April 29th, 2008
That's also a good idea.
Posted at 4:20pm on April 29th, 2008
We shall bug Walrus Guy again. (dun dun dun)
Nice thinking LLaMaSaUceYup
Posted at 4:40pm on April 29th, 2008
Oh thank you, I just thought of it, and really wanted it to be suggested.
Yes, and the walrus says no, we shall steal his bucket and slap him.
:)
Posted at 4:40pm on April 29th, 2008

Posted at 5:56pm on April 29th, 2008

Posted at 11:10pm on May 6th, 2008
So does this mean we actually have to go to Sprite with the ideas before posting or we post and he reads it over and gives approval? Just want to be clear on it is all.
Posted at 10:54am on May 7th, 2008
You post, and he reads it and approves it.
Posted at 10:56pm on May 11th, 2008
Tass you should post this on the main news so people know this.
