My PS3 is dying D:

Yes, my beloved (and quite expensive) gaming system is probably defunct.

It started with minor errors in games a few days ago. Occasional misplaced graphics, a few short bouts of unusual slowdown, nothing heinous. At first I dismissed these as regular errors that sneak through the development process and blew them off. However, in the last two days, the glitches became more frequent, with problems spilling over into the audio department (missing music tracks and sound effects.) I didn't understand where such decreased functionality was coming from, as my game discs were (and still are) in near-mint condition.

The deathblow seemed to come yesterday. After playing a stage in Sonic Unleashed, the game froze. No controls would respond, not even the PS button menu. The system wouldn't even eject my disc. I tried turning the system on and off again (with the power switch) and restarting the game, but I couldn't make it past the menu before it crashed once again. I used a disc drive cleaning system (this might not have been a good idea) which didn't help the situation at all. Yesterday ended in deep despair: Sonic Unleashed and Midnight Club LA wouldn't even start (cited as a start operation error by the system), and Soul Calibur IV would rarely be playable after one battle.

Today it's even worse. The system no longer recognizes my discs as games. It also failed to recognize a CD. The only thing it would play was a PlayStation 2 game, and horribly at that; it seemed like it was moving at half speed.

I'm almost sure this is an internal problem, and I'm going to take it in to get fixed and I hope they can figure out what was wrong. (Hopefully I didn't fuck things up even more with the cleaner disc, because if that's the case I'm responsible for the damage)

So yeah, hopefully it can be fixed in the future, but for now I am PS3-less.

*insert huge sad face here*
