FullScreen Version UP!

Posted in Uncategorized on March 20th, 200335 Comments »

If you are logged in, you can click the link on the left nav to launch the fullscreen version of FFR. Remember that it is only for PC users on IE at the moment. Not much we can do about that.

Let it install the plugin

play the game

press ALT-F4 to exit <-- don't forget this!

Please leave comments about the plugin and what you think of the performance etc.

Thanks!

Online Fullscreen Version to Be Released Today!

Posted in Uncategorized on March 20th, 20034 Comments »

At some point today you will see a link on the lefthand side under “modules” for the FULLSCREEN version. This will actually switch you to fullscreen mode and lets you play the online game outside of the browser. It does this via a plugin that accelerates the Flash app with DirectX.

There are a couple restrictions at this time though as the plugin is such new technology.

* Must be run from a Microsoft based Machine

* Must be run from Internet Explorer. (Netscape will not work at this point but will soon)

There we be no exit button so if you remember anything remember that you

MUST PRESS ALT-F4 to exit the game. In the future it will be scripted with an exit button but for now it is strictly ALT-F4.

Version .47 Being Released Today!

Time to clear that cache and reload your browsers. There is a new version comming out today. I will list the features below as they are complete and updated. Be sure to check back later today for even more updates.

*EDIT* High Score Box now 2x wide and AUTOMATICALLY inserts your stats next to your name when you have a hi-score. This allows others to see how well (or bad) you did. I had to delete hi-scores for a secret song in order to test this.

*EDIT* Reset “Terror From Beyond” scores. This was due to needed testing with outside people

*EDIT* I believe I have fixed a scoring problem that would not allow some people at a certain point down in the top50 list to add their scores. This never seemed to affect people within the near top 10. Somehow with the new stats mode this got increasingly worse tonight. I believe that I have fixed this problem. Make sure you clear your cache and reload before you attempt any hi-scores tonight. Let me know if you run into any problems. The old way of transferring the data had a limit of 254 characters (approx).

*EDIT* Changed font of Hi-Scores from size 10 to 9 so that we could fit a little more in there, but not much

Big Changes on the Homepage & Bookmarks!

Posted in Uncategorized on March 18th, 20032 Comments »

Ok, so maybe you don’t see many changes but the truth is that behind the scenes there were some massive changes last night.

We moved the entire website portion over to a new server which.. well.. is about 10x the power of the old website server. The FFR game has always been hosted on a server seperate and much more powerful than the server that was hosting the website. No longer is this the case as the website is being hosted on a more powerful server also. You will find the page load times and the general responsiveness of the site have increased dramatically. Because of the recent growth in activity, if you tried to login around 3pm CST you would have found that the website (not the game) would be slow to load or refresh. You will find it at lightspeed as of today.

You will notice that our main URL has changed to an easy to remember http://www.flashflashrevolution.com The old URL will stil work but it will redirect you to the new site/server.

Please Don’t forget to update your bookmarks to reflect this change in URL. For those of you who wish to support us, please let others know via forums & emails that our URL has changed.

Thanks again to everyone out there for supporting FFRSo has anyone noticed the speed increases yet?

Optimizing Server

Moved the website to a new server tonight. Please report any and all bugs to Synthlight via PM. I will post more about the move tomorrow morning. Hopefully this should speed up general browsing of the website.

Enjoy the speed!

Synthlight

*EDIT* Anyone notice a speed change in the loading time of pages?

Who? What? Where? Synthlight Begs?

OMG.. I feel like it has been eons since I have had the time to post in the forum or do my usual updating. Luckily Nestlekwik has been hard at work (thank you nestle) trying to keep the house together. Work is finally slowing down a bit and I will be able to get back on track with my FFR duties.

Speaking of such things. I will be announcing a series of relatively obvious hints starting tomorrow night (Saturday) regarding the location of the new secret song. Which btw, nobody has found :) The hints will come in the form of threads posted in the FORUM but will only remain listed for small amounts of time. They will then be erased only later to be listed again with a new hint.

Secondly, I wanted to let everyone know that we have relocated our hosting service and renamed it. It is now called Huah! Hosting (thanks spookgoblin) and 100% of profits still go to FFR. This site is maintained and support by our staff. It is NOT some 3rd party company paying us a cut.

Please, pretty please with sugar on top. If you are in the market for some hosting or know anyone who is, please consider using our service. You will find our services are top notch and service/support is very quick. This is true domain hosting at a fraction of the cost of most any domain hosting services you can find. At this point the hosting service is what keeps FFR alive and I REFUSE to charge anyone to play FFR.

See you all tomorrow night in the forums with hints >:)

FFR Remix #2

Posted in Uncategorized on February 26th, 20036 Comments »

FFR Remix #2 is underway in construction. The discussion forum is bursting with activity, seven pages worth of topics, mostly contribuiting ideas to make FFR better. With all of these ideas, we can be sure that some of them will work their way in. For example, Remix #2 will have the high scores made to show only the highest score of a top 10 individual, meaning that your name will only be shown once in the high scores, showing your highest score. This will give more people a chance to get on the top ten. If you are keeping the forums active you probably already knew about this.

Synthlight, Bprc and Nestlekwik are working hard to get Remix #2 ready, so if you have a good idea, offer your suggestion in the forums. But to make things as easy for them as possible, don’t spam garbage into important topic areas. There’s room for that elsewhere. And make your messages as clear and as easy to interperate as possible. If you can follow through with this, Remix #2 will arrive all the quicker.

Web Hosting Service Launched & Secret Level

Posted in Uncategorized on February 20th, 200334 Comments »

Today we launched our domain web hosting service. Our intent is pretty simple, use our hosting service for your domain and in return 100% of profits go towards FFR server costs. We can provide you with a low cost, high quality product because we intend only to cover our costs. The hosting service is handled directly by us on the actual FFR servers. For the cost of 2 lunches you can rid yourself of places like Tripod and Geocities for an entire year. :)

Our hosting service covers just about everything you could want from a hosting service… MySQL, Php4, Subdomains, Frontpage 2002 extensions, Linux RedHat & Apache reliability, Ensim control panels and many many other features.

Our servers are each on 100mbit net connections and we only serve from P4 Dual Xeon 2.0ghz machines with HD’s that are in a raid configuration.

We can usually have your account setup within minutes and the DNS for your existing or new domains usually propagates within 1-3 days. Until propagation we provide you with temporary logins so that you can prepare your site for launch.

Xqsite.com Subdomain hosting is $1.00 a month (i.e. joe.xqsite.com) and normal domain hosting starts at $2.50 a month. Not easy to beat that! Unlimited transfer bandwidth and Linux based Coldfusion hosting solutions to come in the near future!

Thank you for any consideration. We look forward to providing some of best hosting service you can find, anywhere. We are grateful for every dime we receive to keep FFR alive.

You can sign up

if you are interested.

Didn’t the title say something about a secret level? Maybe a new secret level? You never know. :)
