Upgrades Upgrades Upgrades

Just wanted to give everyone a little update on the status of the site. We went through a bunch of hardware/software upgrades today on the server and you may have noticed some downtime while we rebooted and reconfigured the server.

We updated the forum software to the latest and greatest version while adding a new look to the forum. It matches the rest of a site a little better. It will also allow for attachments and other goodies that I have yet to unleash.

You can get to the forum by clicking here

Make yourself at home and say hello to everyone while you are in there.. Arch0wl and Hyrogashi don’t bit… much… well… ummm..

Cheers,

Synthlight

P.S. You will be unable to respond to this news article until tomorrow (upgrading modules)

Somewhat of an Offbeat Comment

Flash Flash Revolution was obviously created to give you something to do while bored out of your mind at night or in class. Ya, it does a damn fine job of that but FFR was also created to help unknown artists get exposure in ways that we have never seen on the net before. We are happy that we have been able to find a way to help promote bands that would get lost among the millions of other bands across the net. Excluded just so happens to be one of those bands. Excluded is literally just 4 highschool freshman (Matt Hall, Jason Godfrey, Sean Smith, and Cameron Miller) that like to play music together. There is always something entertaining and fresh about bands that have no agenda, young bands that play for the hell of it. We were proud to make a small band like this a level in FFR and do our part to give them their 15 minutes.

If you have a chance, drop by their website: http://www.excludedtheband.com and say hello or download some of their other tracks. I even heard rumors they were making a song about FFR… hmmmmm…. :)

.49 lives!

Only one short day since .48 has been released and we are already releasing a new version. This new version brings a bit more entertainment value and so much more functionality to FFR. FFR now has integrated database support which will lead to plenty of new features in the near future.

New Features in .49

*Integrated Database Support
*Shows stats on main screen for how many levels you have played
*Shows stats on main screen for your “Grand Total Score”. Your score from each level you play is added to this grand total score everytime you complete a level

More to come!

.48 Beta… One Giant Small Leap in the Right Direction

Posted in Uncategorized on May 7th, 200310 Comments »

A little treat for everyone playing tonight. I have added a couple small new features to FFR and have called it: Beta version .48. The new features are listed below.

* Fixed the Hi-Scores button on the main screen so that longer names can fit.

* Added primitive announcer support. Right now it triggers some sound files when you reach certain combo milestones.

* Added a notification screen that checks to see if the player is registered on FlashFlashRevolution.com and if not then reminds them to register.

* Reduced CPU cycles needed during the game. Although this might not be noticed now that I added the announcer code.

*Added Synthetic Light Logo behind the preloader. Do you blame me?

I will most likely change the announcer voice. If anyone wants to record some and send them in, please do so.
Would you believe that all the new code INCLUDING the sound files only added 17k to the main engine file? Not toooo shabby. don’t forget to CLEAR YOUR CACHE and RELOAD to see the new changes.

I wanted to remind everyone to get your entries in for the “Thats a rap!” FFR Challenge. You can send your entries to [email protected] (delete the 12345). How often do you get a chance to become a level in a video game?

That’s a Rap!

Posted in Uncategorized on April 28th, 200315 Comments »

Ok folks….

Here is your chance to be immortalized in an FFR song via the "That’s a Rap!"
challenge. One of our very own FFR talents (Spook Goblin) has created a special
blank track that you can download and use to Rap/Sing/Talk/Scream over. You will
be able to download this track

HERE
and then record your own lyrics and resubmit them. When we get enough
entries in, we will put up a poll for the favorite. This entry will then be
added in as a special FFR level for both the original FFR and R2 when R2 becomes
available. If that wasn’t enough, the winner will also be part of an FFR Audio
CD that will be released in the future AND will be played for BVradio listeners. We may also include other entries
depending on circumstances.

There is currently no deadline but I would encourage people to hurry and get
their entries in so that we can get the stepfile made. This is your chance to be
almost famous! ;) Have fun with it, we won’t judge necessarily on talent but
rather entertainment value. We would prefer lyrical content include FFR in some
sort of way. Don’t feel like you need to use the entire track, we can edit to
fit. If you can give us a your voice track on a separate file without the music
that would be great but if you cannot, then we are ok with that also.

Just remember to have fun with it! We are all here to laugh and have fun at
the end of a long day.

Again, you can download the file HERE.
or you can just browse to the
downloads section and check out the file "FFR" under "Spook Goblin". We will let
everyone know a few weeks in advance of when the cutoff date is.

Cheers,

Synthlight and the FFR staff

A night of FFR fun!

Posted in Uncategorized on April 21st, 200316 Comments »

What a night it was waiting for the amazing secret of the six new FFR songs to be revealed. If you weren’t there you should have been, it was a fun night of talking in the chat room with eager anticipation for the big secret to be revealed. FFR members got to meet each other and I was in my zone welcoming everyone to the valley of the dead who entered the chat room. For about two hours we talked about just about everything constantly begging Nestlekwik for an update on how long till the secret was revealed. Finally we heard a shout from a member telling us that it was done and revealed on the home page. The night of April 20th-21st is a landmark in FFR history. There ranged from 20-25 ppl in the chat room all at the same time (a new record!!!) and perhaps the most aniticipation witnessed in a while. The result was spectacular! Everyone, let’s give our admins our thanks and a big round of applause!!!

6 NEW SONGS ADDED TONIGHT!!!!

Posted in Uncategorized on April 20th, 200321 Comments »

This is by far the largest group of songs we have had added on a single day in the history of FFR. Thanks to all the dedicated fans that stayed up late in the chat room. The songs are listed below in no particular order. I would like to thank Nestlekwik as he is soley responsible for getting together and creating all of the stepfiles for this release tonight. Take the time out to thank him in the forum if you get a chance. All the songs you see below will (in one form or another) be songs included with R2. Keep in mind though that R2 will support multiple stepfiles per song.

Clear you cache and refresh your browser if you don’t see these levels.

–ROCK– “Until the End” by Excluded
“Until the End” is one of those songs that I keep playing on winamp but never seem to get tired of. Sort of a Blink 182 meets Green Day type of sound.. or… for you older folks, they sound (to me) a little bit like Material issue. Anyways, this stepfile is a little on the hard side. Not recommended for beginners

–DANCE– “SoulShift” by SuperGreenX
What can I say about SuperGreenX besides the fact that he does great work. Well mixed, very clean and perfectly composed. Most of his music reminds me of well done music for video games and this song is no exception. Medium difficulty song.

–DANCE– “Break the Common” by DJ Kankaoh
Yet another addition to the FFR game by DJ Kankaoh. This beat is a bit furious. Definately some of faster beats I have seen come from Kankaoh. A quality piece that deserves a difficult stepfile for those medium-advanced players out there.

–CLASSICAL– “Monnlight Sonata” by Beethoven
Finally! A new classical song! It was about time eh? Ok, Beethoven may be dead but that doesn’t mean I cannot thank him.. THANK YOU MR. BEETHOVEN! A medium to advanced song as far as difficulty goes.

–HIP-HOP– “Love You Anymore” by DJ KANKAOH
The second song in today’s release that you have seen from DJ KANKAOH. He offers a unique mix worthy of the hiphop catagory. Fortunately for you FFR newbie’s, this song is rated a 2 “)”. So get to it!

and last but not least.

–SECRET SONG–
Sorry, can’t tell you much about this besides the fact that it is open to public testing and was made for FFR. Can you find it?
Doesnt matter if you can…
You will be Pwnd!

**EDIT** FIXED AUTOMISS IN “LOVE YOU”

Tick…tock….tick…..tock…..*sigh*….

Beats Beats the Musical Treats

Posted in Uncategorized on April 20th, 200311 Comments »

Couple of announcements to make today. First I would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter or whatever you may celebrate this time of the year. I am as always extremely thankful that there are 100 people online right now playing FFR instead of eating lamb and other strange dishes ;) .

I would also like to give a bit of updates on stats since we have not done that lately. We have been maintaining around 100,000+ plays of FFR per day. About 140,000 a day if you count the downloadable version. I can check the plays on this via access stats for the internet hi-scores.

FFR TIMES PLAYED SINCE DEC: 14,500,000+
AVERAGE TRANSFER CONSUMED PER DAY: 31.5GB
PAGE VIEWS ON THIS SITE SINCE DEC: 4,000,000+
DOWNLOADABLE VERSION DOWNLOADS: 22,000+
Not bad eh? I am just happy that everyone is having a good time in general.

I would also like to announce a musical treat prepared by NestleKwik and Myself. The real work was done by NestleKwik though. Please check back on this site between 9:00pm-11:30pm Central time TONIGHT for the release of this treat. (don’t you just love secrets?)
