Happy Holidays from FFR!
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays FFR’ers! This time of year is for drinking eggnog, lighting candles, opening presents, and listening to FFR Radio!
Right now, on FFR Radio, JurseyRider is spinning some Trans-Siberian Orchestra for us, and will be playing various Christmas and Holiday Music (Can I get some Adam Sandler up in here?) for the remainder of the evening. Jurs is now off the radio, but you can still listen to some FFR and DDR tunes on the radio!
Tune in to FFR Radio by clicking the links on the left, or by clicking here. She will be on for the next few hours, so be sure to tune in! We will also be chatting it up in the FFR Radio IRC channel, located in #ffrradio on the irc.othersideirc.net network, so stop by for some holiday chatter for all.
The entire staff of FFR hopes you all have a safe and happy holiday season. Here’s looking towards another great year of key-tappin at FFR.
Cheers,
FFR Staff
R.I.P. Captain Jack 1962-2005
Hello everyone. I wish I had better news for you today. Something trivial about an art update, or a song of the week, or a free copy of some video game.
Francisco Gutierrez, better known to us as “Captain Jack,” has passed away this morning at the age of 43.
In 2002 Captain Jack was diagnosed with a stroke. Though his lifestyle heightened the chances of another stroke, he continued to live life doing what he loved. He collapsed on Monday at a party in Spain, fell into a coma, and was pronounced dead today. He is survived by his ex-wife and son Francisco (21).
There’s no point in masking the fact that we’re connected to Captain Jack through his music on DDR. All of us have heard it; all of us have loved it. He’s become about as much of a part of DDR as DDR itself, and thus the entire music game community is affected by this tragic death.
In memory of his life and his wonderful contributions to both music and music games, we are putting Captain Jack’s self-titled theme song in the game for a short time. We know we don’t have the rights to it. We don’t care. Play, and do homage to this great man. God knows he deserves it.
Tak tak tak, never looking back
Come and fight for Captain Jack
Say it slow, but say it loud
Join the peace camp and you will be proud
Cheers,
Chardish
FFArt Week 5
You’ll have to forgive me for taking forever on this. This was one of those weeks/weekends where all of Chardish’s professors met in unholy congress and reached the sadistic consensus that Chardish should have to do an amount of homework that could be considered nothing less than a Herculean labor.
But the winners from last week’s contest were:
Beethoven Virus: Guillermo Maldonado
End Night: Tyler Mitchell
Bubble Bobble Hillbilly Rodeo: Tyler Mitchell
I’m working on reformatting the nature of this contest because I don’t think we’ll have enough backgrounds quickly enough. But I need to have a chat with Synth about that before I go forward with presenting my idea.
You guys have been patient though, so I’ll give you some cool songs this week.
Next week’s songs are:
Delirium
Get Down
dot death (stealth mix)
Go nuts!
Remember – rules are here. You have until next Tuesday to do this. Tuesday 25th October.
There, I updated it! Now back to listening to the IIDX12 soundtrack for me.
(Omae wa nanimania?)
Cheers,
Chardish
FFR STUFF!! WHEE!!
Stuff Update:
For those of you who have not been following the forums, the FFR stuff (T-shirts and stickers) has arrived and we are now shipping the orders out. Please let us know when you receive your orders. After all orders have been shipped, we will put the remaining inventory up for sale.
Cheers,
Synthlight
FFArt – Week 4
Week 4 is now underway! For those of you who don’t know, FFArt is a way that those of you out there with artistic talent can contribute to 3rd Style and see your name in the game credits.
Click here for more info on the contest, with instructions on how you can enter for this week.
Let’s start with the winners from last week. Tough calls, all.
Lovely Lovely Lovely – Guillermo Maldonado
4F73R M3 – Gabriel Ongpauco
CIA Rave – Jared Setoh
In an attempt to avoid drama, please remember that when you submit an image, you can’t go back and revoke it. You said we could use it, so we’re using it. To use an example, whoever wrote the song “Danger Zone” can’t go back to the people who made the movie “Top Gun” and demand they remove it. It’s done.
Next week’s songs:
Beethoven Virus
End Night
Bubble Bobble Hillbilly Rodeo
Good luck on Week 4!
Cheers,
Chardish
WE FINALLY HAVE A WINNER!
We finally have a winner in our CLICK YOUR BRAINS OUT FOR ITG CONTEST!!!!
So let me tell you a little story
This guy IM’s me right as the contest starts, asking me some questions, just random stuff about the contest (A lot of people were doing this
). At 10:53, I get roughly 25 IM’s saying “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”, and just as I thought, the contest was over.
I check the server logs, and everything is in order, I get the username, and I PM the guy. Most of the people I was talking to on AIM I knew their usernames, but the few I didn’t, I decided to ask them their usernames, and low and behold, one of them was cowboy_b_bop2787.
We both flipped out, I’m so glad we finally had a legit winner in our contest. After 1,177,919 entries into our contest, numerous autoclickers banned, hours spend analyzing server logs for autoclickers, cowboy_b_bop2787 won our contest, getting the random number of 64,118, and clicking 1,421 times.
Thanks to all that participated, we got a lot of great feedback of all the people who clicked their brains out for this prize, and we will be sure to do more contests like this in the future, funded by yours truely
He will be recieving his copy of In The Groove in a few days, congrats to him, and again, thanks for participating!
Cheers,
lightdarkness and Synthlight
We’re clicking our brains out again!
CONTEST TO WIN IN THE GROOVE FOR PLAYSTATION 2
Contest over!
DO NOT USE ANY PROGRAM THAT CLICKS FOR YOU, AKA AN AUTOCLICKER, IF YOU DO YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM THE CONTEST, NO PRIZE 4 U.
We will have a winner tonight, when you win, contact me on AIM: lightdarkness42
CHARDISH EDIT: Don’t forget about Week 3 of the art contest! To learn how you can see your art in 3rd Style, click here.
CONTEST UPDATE 9/27/05: We had a couple techincal problems (autoclickers) with the contest last night, and due to me unexpectivly falling asleep at my desk, we have to give this thing ONE MORE SHOT!Before I explain what we are doing tonight, LET ME MAKE A FEW THINGS CLEAR. You are NOT allowed to use a program to automaticly click (enter) for you. Our system informs us when you are doing so, and it’s just unfair to the other people trying to win legitly. If you are found to be using an autoclicker, you will be banned from the contest.
Now, as to what we are going to do tonight. We will be starting the contest tonight, SEPTEMBER 27TH at 9:00 PM EASTERN TIME. We will have the same odds, and we should have a winner within one to two hours, depending on the number of entries. When we get a winner (provided I havne’t passed out again
) we will very quickly validate your entries, and we will finally have ourselves a winner!
DON’T WASTE OUR TIME VALIDATING IF YOU PLAN ON USING AN AUTOCLICKER. I don’t know how clear I can make myself. I’ve banned about 20 people for using autoclickers so far, don’t make me ban YOU
Thanks for participating thus far, and hopefully around 11pm tonight, I’ll have a winner to annouce to all of you!
Cheers,
LD
It doesn’t appear that our previous winner is going to contact us, so we are going to reopen the contest to get ourselves a new winner.
YOU NEED FLASH 8 TO ENTER
Just click the logo to enter. Every time you click, a new random number is generated for you, if your number matches the winning number on the server, YOU’RE A WINNER!
I can’t stress this next part enough, please pay attention to the message it gives you when you click. It will tell you whether you’ve won or lost.
If while clicking, it goes to the we have a winner screen, and you think you might have one, feel free to contact me on aim (lightdarkness42) to ask me if you’re a winner. I will also PM you and E-mail you, but we’d like to contact you as soon as possible.
With the current odds, we should have a winner in a few hours, so get to clicking!
Stop clicking your brains out!
IT’S OFFICIAL! We have ourselves a winner in our CLICK YOUR BRAINS OUT FOR ITG contest.
I am not going to annouce the winner until I get in contact with them, but I thought i’d put out this message to let everyone know that if you were clicking between 7:30 and 8:00pm Eastern time, you might want to Check your FFR PM’s or perhaps your email for instructions on contacting me.
Thanks so much to everyone for participating, i’ll post an entire contest writeup once the winner contacts me.
FFArt – Week 3
LD EDIT: Don’t forget our Click your brains out contest!, we WILL have a winner today.
It’s Sunday, everyone! And you know what that means…FFArt for another week! For those of you who don’t know, FFArt is a way that those of you out there with artistic talent can contribute to 3rd Style and see your name in the game credits.
Click here for more info on the contest, with instructions on how you can enter for this week.
We got a fair number of submissions this week, but it was far far far fewer than last week. I have the feeling a lot of people got dissapointed because they didn’t win, but really, there are so many good artists out there who can very easily win, but haven’t won yet. Keep up the good work, everyone!
Just please, please don’t be the guy who took the background for Sakura from DDR, wrote “The Return” on it in MS paint, and submitted it for The Return F Superdouble.
WINNARS
Computer Dreams: Trevor Moore
Song For The Nihonjins: Ilse Velázquez
The Return F Superdouble: Ilse Velázquez
Next week’s songs:
4F73R M3 (FFR edit)
Lovely Lovely Lovely
CIA Rave
Remember the rules involving other music games – do not reference DDR in your BG for 4F73R M3. You’ve got a week to make your submissions. Enjoy!
Cheers,
Chardish
