Nippon Zenkoku & Frozen Bond – Little Late, But Better Than Never. #21 & #22. + EternuS #23.

Posted in Tokens on July 12th, 2007136 Comments »

Hi Guys. I’m BAAACCCCKKKKKKKKKKKK. Miss me? Anyway, sorry for the confusion yesterday and the lack of ST releases. Here are the 2 from yesterday, bright and early. Plus the 1st one for today… and it is SPECIAL AND FUN AND AWESOME AND YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO HATE ME.

Nippon Zenkoku GABA Ondo is a DJ Sharpnel song. Has a fairly similar sound as with all Sharpnel; happy, upbeat, japanese. It’s fairly easy, only a 6/12. Few tricky patterns, but overall only 378 notes in 1:31. File is by pokelda. This is the last of the “anti” tokens for a while, promise. The req to unlock it is pretty simple, IMO, for an anti-token. Play Pretty Green Onions. Pass Pretty Green Onions. Get under 1000 perfects on Pretty Green Onions. You can find PGO in Misc.

Frozen Bond is a melodic sounding song by new FFR artist Paraoka. Similar note length and song length as Nippon Zenkoku, but overall a bit easier. 5/12. File is by Rebirth0; his easiest file to date. The req to unlock is more interesting, IMO, although a bit similar to a req we’ve already released. Play Improvisation et Chien. Get at least 2 average-misses and pass, while getting no other averages, misses, or boos, to unlock Frozen Bond. For those unfamiliar with average misses, they are caused by overlapping frames in notes that are too close to each other. In this case, “4-framers”, as the notes are 4 frames apart. If you hit these notes on time, you’ll miss the 1st note, get an average on the 2nd note, and then a boo. 1 average, 1 miss, 1 boo. Do this at least twice in the song (there are 7 4-framers in the file) to unlock Frozen Bond. Basically… you have to be TOO accurate.

Note. As of now, EternuS is NOT working properly. Please be patient while we sort out the error in the code.
EternuS is a fun fun req. And it’ll open up the floodgates for what we can do for the rest of the month. The song itself is long and a bit repetitive. Nice sound out of Sanxion7, aka saxxonpike. The file is by hi19hi19, and has been sitting in game, all by itself, collecting dust…. just waiting until we had the ability to do this req. To unlock EternuS…. you must pass: Bicycle Break (Misc) then Troglodytic Epica (Dance) then Song for the Nihonjins (Purchased) then Max Forever (Secret). Pass them, and do it in a row. Does not have to all be at the same time, just needs to be your last 4 games played.

New Launch of Video Database on FFR

Posted in Uncategorized on July 11th, 200771 Comments »

Hey, well it’s about damn time I post on the front page right? The guys have been so busy with token releases, song releases and new features that I have not been able to squeeze in anything myself on the front page.

So… while I have the floor I wanted to give a big heaping round of applause to SummerSchool, one of our new php/html/css guys here at FFR. He has been working his Tass off getting new features added to the site. He has added numerous bugfixes and features to the profiles, invented the coded tier system on FFR and has now redesigned and relaunched the Video Database on FFR. All within about half a week (and I am only mentioning the major things he has touched).

For those of you interested, you can now embed not only youtube but also Veoh.com, google videos and metacafe into your profiles. You simply paste the URL in there and it parses it automatically. It could not get anymore simple.

But why stop there?

We figured we would follow through and redesign the Video Database as well. Instead of uploading videos, you simple need to paste in the URL and it will properly parse and embed the video. It then creates a thumbnail and attaches your avatar to the listing. We have retained the ability to allow comments and voting on each video and will soon be implementing a feature in profiles that links all your videos in the Video Database to your FFR Profile.

So before I babble on and work myself into a tangent, big props to SummerSchool. Everyone go bother him on his profile and leave a message for him.

Cheers,

Synthlight

P.S. Skill tokens are on their way! We had to reschedule their release today so that today’s tokens had different requirements.

Party 4 U v3 is stepped by hi19hi19 and should be well worth the effort.

Say, it’s only a Liquid Moon! #15 of 62

The first person to get this reference in the title and post it in this news story will get 2,000 credits from LD :) I’m back again with your next token! I gotta be quick today, since in about 4 hours there’s gonna be tons of freshmen running around my campus for Orientation!

Today’s song is Liquid Moon, it’s unlocked by Tension, and all you have to do is get 300 or more misses (But keep it under ten boos)! Seems easy enough… I would think :)

And don’t forget about our new feature, Regional Leaderboards! Check the news story below for more details… oh and token 22 is out somewhere.

Look out for JasonKey later today for your second token, and keep lookin’ for that token!

New Feature: Regional Leaderboards

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution, Tokens on July 7th, 2007175 Comments »

Even though it was suggested mere days ago, tonight we bring to public release our Regional Leaderboards.

What is it exactly? Well… it’s a list of the top players based on average rank, in several regions based in the USA and around the world. To get on the list, you need to do a few things, in this order…

1. Edit your profile info to select which region fits you best. If you live in the US, we have a map linked from that page that should help you choose which you belong to, if you aren’t in the US, you should be able to figure out from the other regions listed where you belong.
2. Once that’s saved, head on over to your level ranking page, by hitting this page, your stats will automatically be added to your regions leaderboard.

That’s it! If you’re in the top ten, you’ll be able to see your name listed next to your peers… if you’re not in the top ten, you’ll at least get to see your rank added to your “region mates” in terms of the regions average rank.

We’ll be adding a top 50/100 for each individual region in the very near future, once we see how we handle the mass influx of users to the new leaderboards. Who knows, maybe you’ll be able to make it to the top of your region.

If you have any ideas for these leaderboards, post them in this news story.

Thanks!

- LD, Synthlight, and JasonKey

P.S. On a COMPLETELY unrelated note, token #22 is hiding somewhere.
