WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!
For those that know me, or have ever seen a picture of me, you’ll know that I sport a retro Philadelphia Phillies hat every day… and have for the past 8 or so years. The last championship for any major team in the city of Philadelphia was 1983, a year before I was born. It is so sweet to finally have a championship back in my City of Brotherly Love, and even moreso that it is my beloved Phillies.
I’m sure the majority of you guys don’t care about sports or baseball, but I do… and this is a moment in my life that I won’t ever forget. I flew across country, back to Philly, just to attend Game 3 of the World Series, and it was one hell of a game. I really am beyond words.
Congrats Phillies, and I can’t wait for the 2009 season!!!!!
-Tass
PS – A small spontaneous contest… 10,000 credits for the 1st correct answer. How many more HBP does Chase Utley need to be the modern career record holder?

Posted at 9:40pm on October 29th, 2008
I honestly don’t even know who the Phillies were playing against. Heck, what is baseball?
Posted at 9:41pm on October 29th, 2008
w00t.
Posted at 9:41pm on October 29th, 2008
174?
Posted at 9:42pm on October 29th, 2008
Phillies = win.
Posted at 9:42pm on October 29th, 2008
Sorry for the double post, but I was actually betting on them to win.
Posted at 9:43pm on October 29th, 2008
He needs to be hit 202 more times…. I think…
Posted at 9:43pm on October 29th, 2008
202. =]
I only watched a bit of the series.
Posted at 9:44pm on October 29th, 2008
crap ninja’d.
Posted at 9:44pm on October 29th, 2008
203 to break the record.
Posted at 9:44pm on October 29th, 2008
203 is the answer
Posted at 9:45pm on October 29th, 2008
Super got ninja’d.
Posted at 9:45pm on October 29th, 2008
umm i got 204… but idk
Posted at 9:46pm on October 29th, 2008
He said /modern/ record. The modern record (according to what I looked up0 is held by Craig Biggio with 285. Utley has been hit 83 times, so he needs 202 more beans to get it…
Right?
Posted at 9:47pm on October 29th, 2008
Shit well i was wrong anyway
Posted at 9:47pm on October 29th, 2008
4 more HBP to tie, 5 more to be the record holder
Posted at 9:47pm on October 29th, 2008
That’ll make him tied with Biggio.
203 will put him in front of Biggio, and he will then hold the record.
Posted at 9:47pm on October 29th, 2008
on espn.com it said “Biggio will pass Jennings, whose 287th and final HBP came in 1903.” and he has been hit 83 times…
Posted at 9:48pm on October 29th, 2008
Ok, since I’m off by a lot, I’m going to go with 205 since no one has said it. =D
/fail
Posted at 9:48pm on October 29th, 2008
double post but o sh*t 205
Posted at 9:48pm on October 29th, 2008
Damnit. Way to pay attention.
Posted at 9:49pm on October 29th, 2008
Jennings isn’t the modern record holder, Biggio is.
Posted at 9:49pm on October 29th, 2008
I guess I’m wrong?
Posted at 9:49pm on October 29th, 2008
omfg dammit.
Posted at 9:49pm on October 29th, 2008
Biggio has only been hit 205 times. Well according the records in the internet.
Posted at 9:50pm on October 29th, 2008
285 times.
Posted at 9:50pm on October 29th, 2008
he will be the modern record holder. it doesnt say with the modern record holder.
Posted at 9:50pm on October 29th, 2008
122?
Posted at 9:51pm on October 29th, 2008
Yeah crap that’s what i meant lol
Posted at 9:51pm on October 29th, 2008
Just to clarify, ’285 times’ wasn’t my guess – just saying that Biggio was hit 285 times.
Posted at 9:51pm on October 29th, 2008
where is Tass!!!
Posted at 9:52pm on October 29th, 2008
Then it would be 202.
Posted at 9:52pm on October 29th, 2008
No 203 to break the record 202 to tie
Posted at 9:52pm on October 29th, 2008
No, 202 would be to tie, like foil said before, go read up a bit.
Posted at 9:53pm on October 29th, 2008
I’ll guess 204, though.
Posted at 9:53pm on October 29th, 2008
but the record is 287 by jennings.
Posted at 9:53pm on October 29th, 2008
Oh, tie? Then 205.
Posted at 9:53pm on October 29th, 2008
What kmay said.
Posted at 9:53pm on October 29th, 2008
Oh wait, it’s for career not a year xD
Posted at 9:54pm on October 29th, 2008
6 more for the left-handed record
Posted at 9:54pm on October 29th, 2008
well duh wut i said.
Posted at 9:54pm on October 29th, 2008
Wait s#@# it is 287.
Posted at 9:54pm on October 29th, 2008
the record as of now.
Posted at 9:54pm on October 29th, 2008
Tass clearly said MODERN record holder. Jennings doesn’t count, guys.
Posted at 9:54pm on October 29th, 2008
Yep. I checked too.
Posted at 9:55pm on October 29th, 2008
So who would you consider to be the current MODERN record holder to be?
Posted at 9:55pm on October 29th, 2008
modern as in new. It says nothing about the previous record being “modern”
Posted at 9:55pm on October 29th, 2008
Craig Biggio. I’ve said this like 4 times already.
Posted at 9:56pm on October 29th, 2008
205
Posted at 9:56pm on October 29th, 2008
I’ve checked various places and got various numbers. 198?
Posted at 9:57pm on October 29th, 2008
lol espn.com i dont think i can get a wrong answer…
Posted at 9:58pm on October 29th, 2008
True. I stand by my 205, then.
Posted at 9:59pm on October 29th, 2008
haha even if you do EAG will get the credits by less then a second >:o
Posted at 9:59pm on October 29th, 2008
baseball’s allright
Posted at 10:02pm on October 29th, 2008
Congratulations to the Phillies. I was actually hoping for a Rays Cinderella story this year. It would have been awesome. But the Phillies are cool, too.
Posted at 10:02pm on October 29th, 2008
I stand by 202. He was hit once in the post season, and I don’t think that was in this year’s stats. So if he was hit 84 times as of today (83 career+1 this post season) 202 is correct, that would give him 286>285
Posted at 10:04pm on October 29th, 2008
I don’t think postseason stats are taken into account.
They are separate.
Posted at 10:05pm on October 29th, 2008
I don’t see why they wouldn’t…. But I guess if Tass hasn’t said anything, 202 and 203 are both wrong anyways.
Posted at 10:05pm on October 29th, 2008
the answer has to be 203.
Posted at 10:07pm on October 29th, 2008
Yeah, my brother posted that. And then Sh4d0w made him look like an idiot.
Posted at 10:08pm on October 29th, 2008
Looked it up. they don’t count. 203 is right…. Unless there’s something we don’t know.
Posted at 10:09pm on October 29th, 2008
WIN!
Anyone going to the parade Friday? I’ll be there for sure.
Posted at 10:09pm on October 29th, 2008
It really was an amazing game.
Mom was rooting for TB x.x but me and my bro were for the Phillies, even though we’re all normlly sox fans -_-
It does make the Red Sox look like crap for losing to the team that lost the World Series, but the Pillies deserved this win, hands down.
Posted at 10:10pm on October 29th, 2008
Pillies?
Anyways, the most common answers are 202-205.
I still stand by 205.
Posted at 10:11pm on October 29th, 2008
He needs 122 to tie the record, 123 to have the record.
Posted at 10:13pm on October 29th, 2008
Diddy, what record are you looking at? Either way, you got ninja’d by me if that’s right.
Posted at 10:14pm on October 29th, 2008
haha samurai TASS HURRY BEFORE I SUMMON THE DEMONS FROM HADES!
Posted at 10:15pm on October 29th, 2008
Don’t. Just summon phantoms. Everyone knows the demons are uncontrollable.
Posted at 10:15pm on October 29th, 2008
LOl I typed Pillies, backsaced, and fixed it about three times… and still it ended up being posted. I just skip fail and die.

*hangs self*

Good night. I need sleep.
Posted at 10:16pm on October 29th, 2008
I have no idea where I got it from. I looked it up and it said 205, yet it could be for most by a pitcher. Who knows?!
Posted at 10:16pm on October 29th, 2008
fine TASS HURRY BEFORE I SUMMON THE “PHANTOMS” OF THE UNDERWORLD. wow that is horrible its like saying ill throw pansies at you.
Posted at 10:17pm on October 29th, 2008
I’ll throw pansies at you, kmay. I’m not kidding.
Posted at 10:17pm on October 29th, 2008
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2938811 the link to the record…
Posted at 10:17pm on October 29th, 2008
God, that is horrible. Screw phantoms. Who cares if the demons kill you? At least you got what you wanted.
Posted at 10:18pm on October 29th, 2008
206
Posted at 10:18pm on October 29th, 2008
“Biggio, the Astros’ second baseman, is about to pass Hall of Famer Hughie Jennings and set the all-time record for being hit by pitches. It’s already happened an extraordinary 285 times over his 20-year career. With three more plunks — he once suffered five of ‘em in a single week in May of 2000 — Biggio will pass Jennings, whose 287th and final HBP came in 1903.”
The record is 287, so I stand by 205.

Posted at 10:19pm on October 29th, 2008
Which one?
Posted at 10:19pm on October 29th, 2008
Actually, to be the MODERN one, he needs to be plunked 104 times. ;D
Posted at 10:20pm on October 29th, 2008
Oshi~ I just realized that this has practically turned into another Prochat.
Posted at 10:20pm on October 29th, 2008
CRAP. I mean 204 times.
Posted at 10:20pm on October 29th, 2008
Where’s the token?
Posted at 10:21pm on October 29th, 2008
Samurai, like foil said, he asked for the modern one, not the one from 1903.
Posted at 10:21pm on October 29th, 2008
wtf modern. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/modern
get it right guys. He asked us how many more times does he need to be hit to be the newest record holder.
Posted at 10:21pm on October 29th, 2008
Either way, that’s still wrong. 204 would merely tie it. 205 breaks it.
Posted at 10:21pm on October 29th, 2008
Where’s the token?
Posted at 10:22pm on October 29th, 2008
wheres the token?
Posted at 10:22pm on October 29th, 2008
What token?
Posted at 10:22pm on October 29th, 2008
I am sorry but the way Tass asked it says “How many more HBP does Chase Utley need to be the modern career record holder?” TO BE not TO BEAT are you guys no crack?
Posted at 10:23pm on October 29th, 2008
Token? lol…
Posted at 10:23pm on October 29th, 2008
To be the record holder, he would have to beat the old record.
Posted at 10:24pm on October 29th, 2008
o.0 i wants a token. to bad there is no token reward
Posted at 10:24pm on October 29th, 2008
OH HELL NUH.
Tass is offline.
Posted at 10:24pm on October 29th, 2008

Posted at 10:29pm on October 29th, 2008
He would need 205 if he were the PITCHING record holder. :O
202 to tie Biggio, 203 to be the modern day, 204 to tie Jennings, 205 to beat Jennings.
He needs to be hit 54 times in a season to tie THAT RECORD, so 27 to tie it, 28 to break it.
Most in a GAME is 6, but I am guessing his max is one or 2, so 5,6, or 7.
Posted at 10:29pm on October 29th, 2008
wtf is happening. o yea the demons must be harvesting their souls
Posted at 10:30pm on October 29th, 2008
204 behind Hughie Jennings (active 1891-1981)
202 behind Craig Biggio (active 1988-2007)
148 behind Jason Kendall (active 1996-Present)
Posted at 10:32pm on October 29th, 2008
Damnit, kmay. You killed Tass too early and now we’ll never know who won.
Posted at 10:32pm on October 29th, 2008
TOKEN!!!
Posted at 10:33pm on October 29th, 2008
And what the hell is with this token? There is no token here.
Posted at 10:33pm on October 29th, 2008
205 to pass Hughie Jennings
203 to pass Craig Biggio
149 to pass Jason Kendall

WOOO IM DURNK
Posted at 1:29am on October 30th, 2008
what token? no token…
and, the answer is 203. Baseball’s “modern” era is post-1900, meaning anything done pre-1900 is still counted for all-time records, but not “modern” records. So Jennings is all-time, but not modern. Biggio is right, at 285. Utley has 83, so needs 203 to reach 286 and pass him, which would make him the record holder.
I think I’ll still give credits to the 1st person who said 202 also though, since technically he’d be the record holder at 285, just not the sole record holder.
Posted at 1:37am on October 30th, 2008
Now maybe everyone will believe me now that the red guy said it. -____-
Thanks for the credits.
Posted at 1:47am on October 30th, 2008

So Monday night my roommate tried to go to that game. He was gone all day and didn’t get back till 7:30 AM. When I asked him where he’d been, he said he tried to get to the game but it was canceled. I laughed at his epic fail.
Posted at 4:23am on October 30th, 2008
sarah: canada is still a ways from philly.
marax: there was a game monday… it was just raining, cold, and was suspended after 6 1/2 innings and then finished earlier tonight.
Posted at 5:10am on October 30th, 2008
… jennings record was set in 1903… or are you saying that he starting getting hit before then.

Posted at 12:12pm on October 30th, 2008
Because of a Phillies news announcement? For fuck’s sake, he’s just happy.
Posted at 2:02pm on October 30th, 2008
It was actually suspended after 5 1/2 innings since the full 6th inning hadn’t been played.
Posted at 3:02pm on October 30th, 2008
I would agree with Mr. Nothing if FFR was a tight ass community.
Posted at 3:04pm on October 30th, 2008

damn phillies
Posted at 10:11pm on October 30th, 2008
kmay, don’t be stupid.
Posted at 10:48pm on October 30th, 2008
There was nothing tricky about it, and it was plenty descriptive because he asked for the MODERN record. I’ve already said this before.
I would like to hear what you think made it ‘not descriptive enough’.
Posted at 12:36am on October 31st, 2008
You guys should stop getting so worked up about 10,000 credits.

Posted at 3:31pm on October 31st, 2008
Think about it this way- If the Rays had won, like I wanted, he would have posted a Rays bashing post. Don’t try to say i’m wrong.
Posted at 3:47pm on October 31st, 2008
Is no one paying attention? Shadowdevil and myself already got the credits.
And Mr. Nothing, you’re wrong. If the Rays had won, I don’t think he would’ve posted anything.
Posted at 4:01pm on October 31st, 2008
Sure foil.
Posted at 8:54pm on October 31st, 2008
Post the winners in the initial post so people will know!! D: Or at least say that it’s no longer in progress. :/
