Songs of the Week (October 6th, 2012)

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on October 7th, 2012

picTime for another sugary sweet six-pack of songs for you guys to drink up over the course of the week. This update will be really short and to the point, as some of you may be aware that this weekend is Thanksgiving for all of us friendly neighbours from the North. To my fellow Canadians, enjoy the long weekend, spending time with your families, and of course the food. To everyone else, hehe we get our turkey a month early~

[Oct. 6 Released Songs]
Aerospace by Cosmovibe (Reshiram) – Very Challenging [63] / 1:54 / Dance 2 / Energetic Trance
Case Closed by ToneDeff (DossarLX ODI) – Challenging [54] / 2:36 / Hip-Hop / Hip Hop
G air by DJ Kuhu (bmah) – Master [73] / 1:47 / Classical / Classical Remix

Kind im Einschlummern by R. Schumann performed by Kyu Sawamura (Silvuh) – Novice [6] / 2:00 / Classical / Piano Solo
To Make the End of Battle by S.S.H. (DarkZtar) – Guru [77] / 3:29 / Rock / Epic VG Rock

Alright, super quick notes on this week’s songs. Hmm…let’s see…

First off, something interesting and noteworthy to point out – we now have over 1,200 public songs in FFR!

This week’s releases are a bit tougher than usual, with half of the files breaching the 70 point difficulty barrier. Starting off this week’s batch is Aerospace by Cosmovibe a.k.a stargroup100, stepped by Reshiram, a short trance tune perhaps reminiscent of some of the song styles that graced FFR years ago. It’s also packed with some pretty dense jumpstream sections.

DossarLX ODI continues to expand the Hip-Hop genre with Case Closed, a streamy file stepped to rapped vocals in a similar style to Champion Freeverse and Velocity, another two FFR songs by ToneDeff.

G air and Jack-the-Ripper are our two Master level releases this week, sharing the same difficulty of 73 and stepped by bmah and YOSHl respectively. G air is an upbeat, fast-paced remix of Bach’s “Air on the G String” (snicker if you want), filled with 200bpm 16th jumpstreams and 32nd rolls, whereas Jack-the-Ripper presents more of a technical challenge, featuring quick jumpstreams, bursts, and jacks (how fitting). The latter file is a secret song, however – you`ll need at least 14,000 credits for this lil’ sasakure.UK ditty to pop up on an FFR engine near you.

Our easiest file of the week is brought to us by Silvuh, who stepped Kind im Einschlummern by German composer Robert Schumann. This particular interpretation played by Kyu Sawamura may seem a tad bit slower compared to some other recordings of the song, but remains beautiful nonetheless.

Rounding off our releases is DarkZtar’s To Make The End of Battle, an S.S.H. remix from the Ys Japanese RPG video game series. Our most difficult file this week presents players with some very aggressive 255bpm 8th jumpjack chaining and 16th streams, as well as a lengthy notecount of over 2,500 arrows! It’s also one of two veteran songs this week (the other being Aerospace), which will be made available for public play next week.

This would probably be a good time to mention that last week’s veteran songs, Autumn Insomnia Session and Syntax, have now been made available to non-veterans. Also a quick reminder that FFR’s first Stepcon is now officially underway! Get working on those files whenever you get the chance!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m scheduled to go put on about 10 pounds.

  1. First :D

  2. Some pretty nice song releases this week! Although as Coolboyrulez0 pointed out in the songs thread, Kind im Einshlummern should be Kind im Einschlummern. It looks fixed in the level stats, but I figured I’d point it out since it’s listed incorrect here (not a big deal but eh).

  3. Alright cool it’s fixed!

  4. Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

  5. I wish i was home to enjoy it!

happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian homies on FFR out there!

PS: Songs are awesome this week.

  7. Fantastic. Three songs I’ll barely be able to play (even more than last week), one that might not be too horrific, and one slightly better that will probably be terrible rap junk. And then one ridiculously easy one that I probably won’t be able to AAA because piano songs do love their colors. And still no pony (seriously, I feel like something by Eurobeat Brony/Odyssey, for one, would fit in perfectly). Curse you FFR :/ Thanks for the writeup though.

  8. If only the world revolved around you, Bobogoobo. If only.

  9. That would be one screwed up world. Just had to get my complaining in, I know most people probably feel differently :P

  14. Pretty good releases! I enjoyed playing all of these after not having internet for a few days. I enjoyed all of the releases this week, although I can’t help but feel like G Air is a bit overrated at 73. Then again, I’m really good at jumpstreaming, so I guess I don’t matter on that one :p

  15. yeah as soon as scores started rolling in on that, I realized I made a booboo, woops

  17. I am technically Canadian, but wtf is thanksgiving? I know it’s “action de grâce” but I dunno a single person who has ever celebrated this Rofl.

  18. Disregard the above comment, I refuse to be Canadian. =C
