Songs Of The Week (Feb 8, 2011)
Hey guys! It’s that time again.
Today’s new songs are all stepped by familiar people, so let’s give you a rundown of all of them.
Here’s the list of today’s songs. (G): Genre, (D): Difficulty, (L): Length
C7 Funk by Tomo Fujita, Stepped by Xandertrax – (G) Funk, (D) 9, (L) 1:43
Sunny Funny Chiny by t+pazolite, Stepped by _.Spitfire._ – (G) Dance2, (D) 10, (L) 2:26
Voodoo People by atomiku, Stepped by megamon88 – (G) Secret (Req: 4,500 credits), (D) 9, (L) 1:47
Yellow Lasers by MC Frontalot, Stepped by dore – (G) Hip-Hop, (D) 5, (L) 2:49
Details of today’s songs.
C7 Funk, by Tomo Fujita, is a fairly short, but groovy funk routine; clocking in at a minute and forty-three seconds, I would surely hope that no one complains about length for this file. For those of you who have just gone through your Legacy genres recently, you might notice that this sounds very similar to Funk in G at some points, only with a much faster melody. Chart is by Xandertrax, and has some pretty interesting (but short) burst patterns. You can find this particular song in the Funk genre (and rightly so).
Sunny Funny Chiny is a t+pazolite song that oddly enough, sounds very light and lacks that ear-blasting bass dru–spoke too soon. This is the second longest of the four songs, at 2:26 (that’s not too bad, come on guys). Chart is stepped by ._Spitfire_., and has some fairly intense patterns with some long 270 BPM 8th note jump/tap alternations. This song will be sitting in the Dance2 genre for all of you upper-level players.
Voodoo People, by atomiku, combines a slow and heavy rock feel with a fast-paced and driving bassline to bump up the difficulty. It is also a short song, sitting at a minute and forty-seven seconds. Stepchart is by megamon88. Because of repeated mini-jacks at 174 BPM, this song is also challenging. You can find this song in the Secret genre, but only if you’re holding 4,500 credits (or more). Happy key-smashing!
Yellow Lasers is a song by hip-hop artist MC Frontalot. The longest of our four releases, at 2:49, is a fairly easy chart, featuring tons of double meanings within a mouthful of lyrics. The chart for this song, stepped by Dore, is a fairly light chart, following lyrical syllables and the occasional outside instruments. You can find this song in the Hip Hop genre.
Enjoy!

Hey JX — That was a personal note for you, so you can actually remove that.
EDIT: Fixed.

Yay for new songs. Glad to see this on the front page too. I personally think new songs are front page material each week…it keeps the site alive as far as the main page community. Haha.

First legit “Funk” and “Hip Hop” additions in how long?
And I still can’t figure out how I amassed 50,000 credits…

At least they’re not FMO’s. Can’t handle the pressure you know, noob status.

Either you weren’t aware or you figured it was unimportant, but it just struck me as a little strange that you didn’t mention Voodoo People is a remix of Prodigy’s song. Usually when a remix is put up, it is commented about. That is all.

@ Sente: I thought it was a little irrelevant, but I did in fact know it was Prodigy original.

Awesome that you knew too. Someone’s got a good ear for music.

@ TC_Halogen: I figured you’d ‘a known. Just wanted to make sure =]
And you know as well, so likewise to you, sir. Personally, I like Pendulum’s version better though. A guy I know by the alias of Dj_Rec0il also did a version. Pretty good, too.

New song or new chart?
-
If new chart – I have one in the queue, waiting to be put out soon. If new song…gotta break my fears of self-doubt, because I find it difficult to release my own works, despite the fact that numerous people have told me that I have a knack for making music.
